What is a good score for 25m springer?

I'm just getting into benchrest shooting with my HW97. I'm getting my rest together, a Caldwell front rest and rear bag, and getting a feel for how I'm shooting. I intend to shoot some regional events in Michigan and maybe Ohio.

I'm wondering what I should be aiming for in terms of scoring and what to expect from a springer. Sometimes my gun feels like a laser but then there are enough misses that I typically shoot 242 to 245 with 6 to 8x. This is all in my back yard in calm conditions. I have nowhere to practice in the wind. Am I in the ballpark to be competitive?

Here's yesterday's practice card.

Hey Chris, just wondering what the reason for this might be? Never really considered it.....thanks.
Am new to the air gun world but apparently it has to do with the way a springer recoils. to be accurate you have to have the same "hold" on the rife and let it recoil the same way every time because the piston hits the end of the compression tube before the pellet leaves the barrel and any deviation in the "hold" changes the point of impact. well that's what i have gather, i could be wrong.

OK I guess....but what's the alternative? I would think that using a proper front rest for that springer, and positioning in the exact same fashion would be a proper procedure.....of course, I could be wrong as well.......maybe someone else with lots of experience will chime in here. Thanks.
