N/A Quick comparison of three 50 fpe plus pcp's, and a 22rf, at 102y.

This is my 22 caliber Thomas HPX which was turned down from 880 fps to 818 fps using Altaros 32.3gr Smooth slugs/.18 G1 BC, to meet the sub 50fpe requirement for the UFT FullMonty match. It has a heavy hammer and spring so when shortening restriction screws it's been challenging to get the velocity and the right tune optimal. The gun seemed to shoot more precisely at 880 fps, and was pretty good at 839 fps, but that is slightly over 50 fpe. I'll try different HS settings to look for improvement.

I noticed that the rubber feet on the bipod would slip forward during the shot sometimes and I could see the reticle jump up as well as the POI of that shot go up. I'll try putting a piece of carpet under the bipod this week to see if it helps grouping.

Compared to the other guns this is the heaviest, has the best feeling erogos for me, as well as the best feeling trigger. It's single shot and I hope it could shoot these slugs a bit better with some tuning.

Worth mentioning is this latter shipment of Altaros slugs doesn't fit as snuggly in the chamber as the last batch did???

Anyway now I know why I missed more on the longer targets than I did at last months UFT match when I used the previous batch of slugs at 839 fps.



This is my Anschutz 1827F Biathlon 22rf repeater. I used Eley Club at 1065 fps. It's a lightweight gun and not a great BR gun at that but shoots pretty good in spite of using a Harris bipod. The lot# tested Lapua Polar ammo I ran out of shot really well in it but this other ammo works OK for me and it doesn't hurt I got a couple cases of it for a 1/4th price from a old friend. I don't shoot NRL22 matches with it anymore but have shot 10 or so UFT matches with it. It's darn hard for the pcp's to compete with rimfire in UFT.



If I can get the Thomas or Uragan shooting better I'll revisit this thread with some groups.

I looked yours up and that's a neat old gun. Yeah that Tenex is about the best 22 ammo, or perhaps Lapua Exact.

Compared to which one of my guns here were you referring too though, likely the 22rf??

The lot# of Polar I selected, that was tested at the Lapua facility through my 1827F, shot .9" at 100M for 10 shots. This was done in a funky jig with the gun snugged into a rubber housing sitting in a vise, because they didn't have the actual jig to fit my action, which I though was very unprofessional.

This Eley club isn't as precise as the Polar was however I don't want to spend $20 a box of 50 case price. My premium ammo days are over I suppose.

Not the best day to test due to gusts but the HPX seems to shoot a little better with the HS turned in a 1/4 turn from where it was a week ago. Hard to see but that's a quarter for scale.
