RAW .30 HM 1000X LRT, first shots

Over the last couple of weeks I did some “horse trading” and traded off a couple rifles that were not seeing the light of day. The net results were a pair of RAW HM1000X LRT’s in .30. One new (the black one) and a pre-owned (blue) one. I have owned two LRT .22’s and a .25 previously and was familiar with the platform. RAW triggers set the gold standard to what other mechanical trigger should attain to be.

The weather was mid 40’s with a steady and cold rain. The wind was mild at 3-5 out of the west, at my six. I had hoped to test these at 100Y but since I had to dial in the scopes and it was raining, 50Y was all I wanted for the conditions. Three shot groups were enough to fill the bull areas. I wanted to get a feel for what pellets these dispensers preferred and quickly realized they both preferred 44’s to 50 and 56 variants. This concurred to what info I was able to find in the search function on AGN and other forums.

Unable to post pics so I guess you’ll have to use your imaginations until they fix the forum.

Congrats! I too recently got a .30 HM1000X. I spoke to the RAW folks and they said they were getting the best results fron the 45 grain AEA pellets. I bought a few tins and I have to agree. The only thing I did was turn the hammer spring in 1/2 turn. Love it. BTW I have a .25 also - couldn't ask for a better trigger.

Does the LRT stock allow for a free recoil set-up for the rear bags?
My Arnold one piece rest with a bag top or roller top are all set up for 3” bag riders so I added one to the bottom of one of my rifles and yes it shoots great that way. I left the pre-owned blue one set up with a pic rail and used an AccuTac bipod. Of the two, I much prefer the one piece rest set up so I will likely add another 3” bad rider to the other RAW.

BTW, I did shoot Blue using free recoil. I put hard plastic feet on the bottom of my BiPod then I rest it on a plastic cutting board so it is free to slide. It shot great that way but jumps around a lot more than the one on my Arnold rest does.

I did run crono strings on both:

RAW Gray (new) .30
JSB .30 44.0gr
Shot count: 10
Low: 870 FPS
Hi: 877 FPS
Avg: 874 FPS
Spread: 7 FPS
STD Dev: 2.1 FPS

RAW Blue (pre-owned) .30
JSB .30 44.0gr
Shot count: 12
Low: 905 FPS
Hi: 914 FPS
Avg: 910 FPS
Spread: 9 FPS
STD Dev: 2.5 FPS

The previous owner of Blue said he was running it at 890 so I will dial it back a tad to see how it shoots there.

PS, I still can’t post pics yet.

Looks like the smart guys got the picture uploader fixed. Thanks!

Yeah igo,
I picked up a .25 cal. RAW HM1000X from Utah Air recently on sale🚀.
Great guns, haven’t had a chance to take her out yet.
All of my Airforce RAW’s shoot great, even though the moderator on your gun is ghastly big … had to remove/replace mine.

I’m not a fan of the huge “car muffler” moderator but it certainly quiets the report equally as well as a Ronin or a Sumo can.

We got lucky today with some decent weather. It hit 57*F here but it was windy with a steady 14MPH out of the SW. I wanted to stretch my RAWs out to 100Y but I started at 50’ first and shot a few 25 shot groups with several different pellets.

Then I proceeded to move out to 100Y. These were all shot with unsorted pellets.

Thanks ThomasT
The Gray rifle likes the grey days!
The Blue is hanging in there, but i think the Gray has the edge
Nice shooting Tim!
i'm waiting on a br stock from Martin, hope i get some similar results
Mike
Mike, I made and added a 3" bag rider to the base of my LRT stock which works great.
