Fx m4 vs fx king discussion!

Looking for input of users on both sides of these wonderful platform. Especially hunters. I myself am a hunter and love long range shots on chipmunks in Arkansas and hunting in the hills of Tennessee! How does your platform/setup handle in the field? How does it handle on a long day of walking? Pros and cons?
Just trying to help others and myself with this battle of the kings/ flagships of competition world/ hunting scene. Thank you for all your responses and insight have a blessed day.

I have never owned a King but I have owned a couple of impacts. If I had to choose today with mainly hunting in mind it would no doubt be the king. The impact suffers from the first few shots being low velocity after sitting. That is a big hindrance for hunting. I don’t believe the king has that. Plus the king has a much more rigid barrel system. You don’t hear about a wandering POI in that platform like you do when it comes to the impact. I did not experience this in my guns much but have read about it quite a bit. The downside to the king is unless you can live with the ugliest stock ever put on a rifle (synthetic version) you are going to have to spend a few hundred dollars more on it.

If he's looking into either one, the prices are about the same if he gets the grs stock. I never experienced wandering POI in any of my fx impacts unless I put a barrel tensioner or had a bad tune.

Yeah the grs stock is only like a 150 more. I’m still not convinced if I were going to get an impact right now that I’d go m4. I would probably pick up a largely discounted m3. Keep talking myself out of that though. I am also a bit bias as I’ve always wanted the king since it came out but always talk myself out of that too.

True, I wouls not go for the M4 at all. I've seen some posts here off horrific experiences. Having the replace the rod, valve and bumper right out of the box is nuts!

I own two impacts and a Panthera, which the King is based on. I hunt with the Panthera but only where I an set up and shoot from a place I intend to stay for a while.
For walking or working my way around a feedlot or something similar, I leave the Panthera at home. Too long to be working it through the gates fences or brush. Can it be done? Of course. It just isn‘t as easy as a bull pup is.
I like the Panthera‘s ability to make very good power with less plenum pressure and it is a breeze to tune to shoot well. None of this will overcome the comparative length against an Impact with the same barrel length.
I recently got a Panthera Compact Hunter and am very happy with it as a hunting gun. Very short barrel and power is limited, but in 30 cal even going slow it has plenty pf power.

I still own your M3 .22 compact. It took a good bit of work for me to trust it as my hunting gun. Don’t confuse hunting gun with pesting gun. I need the gun to be on point all the time because I’m hunting game animals. The M4 didn’t fix or change anything that helps in that category. You’re still getting the M3 weaknesses with a M4. You should look at completely different manufacturers for rock solid hunting guns. Unless you like working on guns.

If I go back to an FX it's to try out a panthera hunter compact .177

I could always count on my impacts but I always had to do work on them to do what I wanted. And I ALWAYS wanted to tinker with them and change calibers. I love my U2 700mm .22 and just today the U2 .22 compact arrived, I haven't .ade it home yet though. Just a solid rifle from end to finish

Yep, I now own three U2’s. Two compacts and a beast. FX is not even playing the same sport as these Eastern European guns. Headache vs pleasure.
Sick! Im hoping to open up the U2 700mm this weekend to turn up the heat a bit. Currently shooting the 25gr Hn hp2 at 940fps somehow getting over 100 shots per fill from 290b. Looking to push 28.5gr VK around 980fps which I know it can do easily.
Yessir! Have a look.

I used to use my .22/500mm Crown for stalking squirrels in the mornings when the leaves are soft/quiet then come back in the afternoon with the .22/700mm Panthera for long range sniper shooting when the bush was too noisy to stalk in.

The Crown is still my favorite general purpose PCP but this past season I been using a light weight. 22/600mm FX DRS for stalking.

Very pleased with all my FX PCPs. I wouldn't hesitate to get a King if I didn't already have the Panthera.

Cheers!

So you still have FX greener grass syndrome even with an AGT? Or is there room for improvement over what the HP2’s are doing? Because personally, 100 shots with a 25gr .22 slug known for its expansion at 940 is no joke. Unless accuracy is an issue. Or the sheer size of what you’re hunting.

I want to be able to push the heavier slugs with higher BC fast for long range. I honestly can't see myself getting rid of this gun anytime soon, so maybe I can eventually get myself into doing competition shooting. I have the availability to shoot 300-500yds at some of these golf course I work at.

Hate to admit I bought a m4 .177 a week ago and haven't received it yet. Kinda wise man I would have went other way
Dont give up before you even start. Your Impact might be great. FX has had lots of issues and lots of unhappy customers, but there are lots of happy ones too. FX has a lot of room for improvement in both their business practice and product design; but some good ones escape the factory lol.
