FX FPS out of .22 fx dynamic compact

I just got my fx dynamic compact .22 in, after zeroing with jsb 18.13 grains, I pulled the chronograph out to see where it sits. The average was around 815 fps. Being fairly new to PCP, I did not know if I should try and push these pellets more or leave it alone. Rifle is being used for pest from sparrows to pigeons. Just wanting some other opinions on whether or not I should try and gain more energy per shot

I would guess your gun will be operating at its finest at that setting. Efficient, calm, and as quiet as it will get. If your accuracy is there, go shoot some pigeons and sparrows. They will answer your question. And don’t forget to try some 16gr Hades, they will be humming along nicely at that setting. Since you are relatively new I will clue you in on very dumb path a lot of guys go down in this hobby. Me included. We buy a gun that’s too small, then want it to do what a gun one size bigger does easily. The 380mm barrel guys want their guns to do what a 500mm barreled gun does easily. A 500mm guy wants his gun to do what a 600mm gun does easily. Get the picture? When we stay in our lane with what our chosen gun is easily capable of, happiness and no drama happens.

Bottom line, in most cases if we want more power, barrel length is your best friend. I’m guessing your gun was set there for a reason. Happy customer. Will it shoot those 18’s faster? Yes. But it’s all down hill. More noise, vibes and bad shot count.

thank you for the response, I will have to order some hades, the gun is more accurate then I can shoot. I just wasn't sure if the gun was in the right ballpark as far as energy with those pellets. I put a donnyfl yokozuna on the end and all you can hear is the hammer striking and impact of the pellet

The sweet thing about this platform is ease of tuning! Just write down your current settings and try a little more power. You can very easily go back to where it was.

You can EASILY shoot 18g up to 900fps with that gun, around 880fps being the sweet spot in my experience. Set reg to 130bar and dial the Quick Tune until you get to your desired FPS. Also helps to add a little heavier hammer weight, the stock .22 weight isn't ideal. Ask me How I know.

Looking at the comments here confirms exactly what I said in post #2. Nobody get excited, I’m not saying anyone is a fool. But first, when you play with a reg because you can always go back is true. But playing with a reg can lead from a non creeper becoming a creeper. Second, you see the gun can do 900fps. But…..you have to add a hammer weight. If FX wanted the gun to have more hammer weight, I think they are smart enough to install it right out the gate. It just goes back to what I said. We all want our tiny guns to perform like their bigger brothers. In some cases we can get them close, it’s up to you if it’s worth it.

I personally have found more enjoyment out of my 600mm and less barreled FX guns with no power adders or running them too hot. Took me years of being stubborn and dealing with some unnecessary stuff like sound, vibes or shot count just for a few measly FPS.

I'm also not prepared nor experienced enough to start changing all of that at the time so I'm probably leaving it where it sits for the time being and just enjoy it, if i decide i need more, buy another rig in a bigger caliber

I think you’ll enjoy it. Now order some Hades or Atomics. Then let that be the biggest decision you have to make. Well besides a scope you’ll be happy with.

ive got a vortex venom on top of it, I'm very happy with it. just took a couple shots at starlings, two hits and neither went down. I did also order the atomics today, I plan on tomorrow to chrono my umarex orgin to see where it sits. I feel like it hit harder than this rifle does. I had taken a couple crows with it
