I need a valve seat made for my rifle out of Delrin. I have seen a lot of talented people on this forum and figure I would ask here to see if anyone if interested. Below is what I need.

Part number 73 is the valve seal.

The outside diameter is 13.00 mm

The inside diameter is 6.60 mm (this is the hole in the seal)

The outer edge thickness is 1.45 mm

The inner rim thickness is 1.75 mm (this is the part where the valve sits on)

The inner rim is 9.50mm diameter (this is the part where the valve sits on)

Looks pretty simple. I have some Delrin laying around. Let me see how it looks when finished. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes to finish up. If you like the looks and pics with the measurements I couldn't imagine it being more than a $10 job with shipping.
I am in. Should have said this Is a paid gig. Maybe make 2 or 3 so I never need another one.

I've made so many delrin seals the past few years and tell the truth, I can't make a penny on them.

Just pulling stock, chucking it up, grabbing the drill index, mounting the cutter, takes more time than the value of the part.

Good on you for making them, love to see the generosity.
Exactly. The only way to make these things at a "reasonable price" is making them with automation, by the hundreds if not thousands. That part would be simple to make, but I doubt I could even make minimum wage making one or two. Rest assured @thammer is doing this as a favor, and not for the money.

How about delrin springer spring guides and top hats? Is someone willing to make these to size at a fair price? Uj

Bingo!

Unless you have access to a lathe these parts are unobtainium. It's the reason this latheless springer shooter use kits instead of bare springs.

A guy willing to turn custom spring guides to spec could get a lot of business around here.

Exactly Gene. But what would this community be if we only helped each other for money.

A long time ago I owned a cabinet shop. We bid on 100 home subdivision and we would have done ok at what we bid. They wanted what we made...but kept whittling at the price and trying to upgrade stuff at no additional cost. I remember the guy kept saying...remember, you'll be getting 100 of these.

I thought to myself that if I'm gonna lose money on one kitchen...I sure don't want 100 of them. Haha.

Staying busy is easy. It's the making a living part that's hard.

Nice of thammer to make one for you.

I understand - all too well. I've done a *lot* of free work for shooting friends, but eventually it got to the point that my shop time (my "free" time) was consumed by doing work for others. A few abused my generosity, others were very considerate and appreciative that I was giving up *my* time (and tools) to help them out. It kind of came to a head when I discovered that one of them was selling the parts I made for him (at no cost).

In no way do I discourage helping others out, but I'm a lot more selective now. And I usually (though not always) demand some kind of payment, in part to make sure it's something they actually value as opposed to something they'll request just because it doesn't cost anything. I hope your experience (and ability to say "no") are better than mine.

I could go on at length about this, but hopefully you get the gist. (And I'm in no way meaning to discourage you from making this part, just warning about how this can escalate.

Because charity does not pay for materials...

I just did a gratis job for a customer, his pcp was a mess, I lost a full day's work but I feel good about it.

I DO NOT like those that don't do gratis work/give things away, grumbling about us that are doing the work and think it should be free just because they say it should be.

Gratis, actually mean free in Danish, nice to know we passed on a few good things at least.
What freak me out is you also using the word / term Ombudsman, that nearly melted my brain when i found out.

I dislike the Danish government stealing money from me, and use it for philanthropy. that is primarily why i have never given anything to any beggar here.

Here's what I came up with. I'll see if I can get a few more done since i already have the lathe set up.

You are AWSOME! Thanks so much for doing this! A little back story on why I needed someone to do this and not just buy the part from, in this case, Walther. I shoot field target. I picked up a Walther LG400FT rifle in a trade. I got it set up over the summer to shoot the World FT Championship back in November, kind of a bucket list thing for me. I didn’t plan to win. Just go for the experience. The rifle shot amazing all summer. A couple weeks before leaving I noticed my rifle was shooting low. I redid all my sight settings. I chrono’ed my rifle a couple times (in the afternoon when it was warm) and all was good. I started researching about the issue right before leaving for the big match and found this particular rifle is temp sensitive. Sure enough when I got to AZ to shoot the match I found my rifle would shoot in the low 720fps in the morning when it was cold, 760 mid morning when its was warming up, and 785 (where I had it set) when it was the heat of the day. As you can see I had some issues hard to overcome. Luckily the issue is easy to resolve. Remove all the grease off the hammer, install a valve seat out of Delrin, and a harder valve seat o-ring. I tried for more than a month now to find someone in Europe who might be making some (this rifle is used a lot over there) and came up with nothing. A lot of guys in Europe are switching this part out but nobody seems to sell them. So there you go. This was the one part I needed but couldn’t get and had no way to make one. I appreciate the help.
