I would like to introduce my two Castillian exchange students who are staying with me for the next few semesters.

Maria, on the left has been here since late september. Her sister Juanita arrived on Saturday just in time for Maria's birthday!

Maria just turned 15,000 this after noon! I counted up the tins and it's official. It's her quincieñara!

Seriously this rifle has been great. Inexpensive, accurate and durable. I loved it so much I bought another one just like it. It's the perfect hunting and plinking rifle and shoots ALMOST as good as my HW's. I've shot Maria more trouble free shots than any springer I own and she's still kicking out 680 fps. Juanita is spitting them out at 740 with 500 shots under her corset.

I wanted you guys with the fancy walnut stocks and high dollar collectible rifles to gaze upon the beauty of my deluxe plastic stock. Behold the fit of my limbsaver slip on pad. The exquisite lines of the molded cheekpiece. The rich bluing and metal finish. These rifles have got it all and I felt the duty to share their splendor with the group.

They are fairly well balanced. Easy to swing, smooth shooting, hard hitting, good trigger, accurate, and less than half the cost of most other rifles. I honestly can't find anything I don't like about them and I've spent 15,000 shots and 3 months looking.

Nice.

Where to buy? My usual shops don't carry the Cometa brand.

That is awesome, and as a bonus she likes the cheap stuff it seems. Going to get one of the laminate versions soon and probably pick up a barrel in the other caliber for ~$18 just for shiggles

Nice ladies err rifles you have there. Glad to hear you are enjoying them. .22 springers are a hoot to shoot. How are the triggers?

The triggers are great. They are a little tricky to get adjusted right. When you hit the sweet spot they break crisp and light. They aren't a Rekord but they aren't objectionable at all.

I've hear all sorts of horror stories about the trigger. Maria's trigger got a little "lumpy" at one point. I took it apart and cleaned/lubed it and spent a half hour figuring out how it worked. Tweaked the adjustment screw a little and it's great.

I like the trigger construction. It's solid and simple. After breaking a shoebox full of Quattro triggers I can say it is infinitely more durable. The giblets are all polished and machined steel and there is much closer tolerances.

A real "trigger snob" will complain about the break not being "like glass" and they would be right. But the break is quick, predictable and very shootable. I don't feel the trigger limits the accuracy potential at all.

I have a barrel in .117 on order myself.

Crosmans shoot great in this rifle. They arent the very best but the rifle shoots everything well. Patterns under a dime at 25 are the norm. I don't shoot paper much so the Crosmans do just fine.

I will say the Crosman domes are more consistently sized than the CPHP from Walmart Mart. I pay the extra buck a can for the domes from Pyramid and have fewer high flyers. But even the CPHP will hit a shotgun shell at 50 yards with regularity

The distributor is a member on the forum. He's been treating me right and I appreciate that.

I'm not one to gush about a product unless it really makes me happy. I've had a lot of disappointments with air rifles in the past 6 years and I honestly can't say I'd buy any of them again except this one. The high end rifles haven't been a value and I've had as many or more problems with them than the cheap ones. The only springers I've ever had that gave me good service and were worth the price of the ticket are these Cometas and my D34. The rest have all been one issue after the other.

So I have no problem talking up these little guns. They have made me very happy and will outperform rifles I've paid 3x as much for. They won't shoot as tiny a group as some but have given me EXPONENTIALLY more trouble free shots at a much higher velocity.

The difference in accuracy might amount to 1/4-3/8" @ 50 between these rifles and my HW97k. But I only shoot the 97k off a rest because it's too heavy to swing. I can shoot these guns offhand very accurately and off my knees sitting in a lawn chair with iron sights. The little bit you lose in accuracy you gain back in usability. So for me there really is no comparison.

These rifles do everything I need a pellet rifle to do. The others just sit. I haven't shot my HW's in months and I'm thinking seriously about selling them and buying a CZ457 varmint rimfire. I'll get better accuracy, more range, hit harder and have less invested. I'll shoot it a lot more often than the HW's too.

Those look good. I would definitely consider one of those if I was in the market for a relatively cheap gun that I didn’t have to worry too much about.
I don’t blame you for giving up on HW ‘s. If mine were breaking springs every week, I would sell them off as well. Sounds like their quality may have gone downhill, (or you had some really bad luck).

Muy Bonita!
Something to enjoy while you fondle the senoritas.

RIP Paco
That’s quite nice!

I can imagine him listening to this, while slowly unfolding a silicone infused gun cloth and carefully wiping down each of the senoritas. Then unfurling the bore snake for a gentle….. cleaning

Both my HW's are accurate and reliable now. It was a long road I'm telling you. But they are truly worthy rifles.

I just don't shoot them much. The HW97 is a great bench gun or rested on a bipod but it's clumsy to stand and shoot. The HW95 is too pretty to shoot. It's a fantastic rifle but I can't strap it on my pack or carry it in the brush.

I put a kit in the 95, got it shooting great and I haven't picked it up since. I put a new scope on the 97 and there it sits. They are both tack driving accurate and of higher quality than the Cometa. But all I want to do is stand and plink shotgun shells and toy dinosaurs with the cometa.

I'm shooting my springers 250 shots a day for rifle practice. Iron sights and offhand under 75 is where a springer shines. Its truly a learning experience. I'm feeling the limitations in accuracy and range though.

A bench quality rimfire is less invested and more effective for me to hunt and target shoot with. A tack driving rimfire will get me more accuracy, power and range for a few bucks less than a quality springer. And a whole lot less than a PCP. I can use it in a lot more hunting situations too.
