Losing interest?

The older I get the more I'm drifting towards the pistol grip style guns vs traditional. The brococks are a top tier gun with the tactical/pistol styling.

I'm a catastrophic burn survivor, I can't bend my wrists to hold a traditional gun stock, thumbholes and pistol grips are the only thing I can shoot so the BRK is a dream to settle in behind, the trigger has ZERO creep, it breaks in surprise every shot. Sigh... 😋

Just shot 2 one hundred bull cards today with my Brocock Bantam, old fashioned bolt action, it did very well, I'm falling in love...
Both of you gentlemen know your way around PCPs as demonstrated by some of the PCPs you have put together in your various posts. Its really cool and validating to read both of your takes on the BRKs…🙏🫡 They really are sweet guns…

I shot around 100 pellets out there today, and then replaced the front brakes and hubs on the work van.

No rest for the wicked!
i shot a couple pest chicken and drove to waikiki to watch my daughter swim. i’m losing my mind sitting around doing nothing.. too much idle for the wicked.

Air rifles are an economical alternative to a rimfire for practice.

They get to be a bit of an obsession for some and I can see why. They make a great hobby.

From my perspective they are a practice tool rather than a hobby. I see myself transitioning back to my rimfire and centerfire rifles more in the future. The air rifle will always be a fun and inexpensive way to stay in practice. Now that I know the basics of how they work, how to repair them and shoot them I'll focus on air rifles a lot less.

I'm getting cases of .22lr for $0.05 a round. I find that PCP's are MUCH more of a challenge and I can shoot them indoors. I'll still schoot lr's in the summer but I popped 500 pellets last night and today for $7.00!

Too bad my marlin 60 is a snob and only eats Remington Target 40gr lead nose. It'll put them in one hole at 75 yards all day though.

For me the interest waxes from Spring through Autumn, in Winter it wanes. I still shoot but not nearly as much, its simply too 🥶… Hobbies aren’t supposed to be ”all encompassing“ or necessarily cost a fortune. There are many airguns out there that simply get it done for the majority of users at multiple price points. So there’s always a PCP out there for those who like “the chase”… For myself, less is more, learning through use what I do with my PCPs has kept me sober in this game. My wants are more pellets, a direct fill HPA compressor and more time to enjoy it all…🙏
This is really well said. I just now pulled the trigger (no pun intended) on a refurbed .22 Kratos from AR for $259….honestly that feels just as good - but in a different way - than dropping $4K on an Alpha Wolf.

Those are solid guns. I've had 2, one of which I converted to 177.

Hopefully Rich went thru it and modified the hammer spring. That's the only thing really needed on them. They have a long, somewhat weak spring which causes a ton of hammer bounce and wastes air. It also will make the gun quieter and typically more accurate with a better spring, all staying close to or right at full power still.

Thanks for your insight. I’m pretty sure the gun is totally stock. Is there anywhere you might point me to learn about doing that mod (and maybe others) myself?

Look up Akela spring mod or something like that. Basically just need to source a shorter and stiffer spring than stock, or cut off a few coils on the stock spring.

Going to need a chrony if you don't already have one. So you can tune it.

I had a sort of cheap one from Amazon when I got in to this hobby early last year, but I returned it. I might be wrong but I feel like there is a bit of a difference between being made for firearms vs. Our pcp rifles

I'm still running an old school F1 chrony. Damn thing uses halogen bulbs which are becoming near impossible to find locally. I'll have to buy something new soon. Luckily they're way cheaper now than when I got into this hobby.

then either I was using it wrong, or I bought a dud. Lol. I guess I don’t necessarily need to spend a weeks worth of food on one then.
