Or just calm down and not be so goo gaa and just wait on in stock . Heck maybe one of them got to have it first guys will spill it sucks and your glad you did not buy it right off

I did it twice, and after delivery was pushed out multiple times I had to file a PP claim and it took me a month to get my money back.

Most all new PCP platforms rarely come out as scheduled, usually 2-3 months later. Might as well wait and see a few reviews before purchasing.

For a custom order for non-stocked item I can see this as legitimate request. For a regularly stocked item on back order, nope.

If they hold payment I don't mind but most charge your card ASAP. Had that problem when ordering my ALPHA filter you only have 90 days to claim a charge back if something goes south with the deal. Ask for a refund at day 75 then file a claim if they don't give a full refund.

Rummer has it that charging up front is a violation with the user agreement with Mastercard and Visa.

I will never pay and wait for something. Especially something like a new latest and greatest.

@OldmanWilly, why not simply wait and buy when the gun is in stock? How about you let us know what gun would merit such an “up front” payment and from whom?

Yes. I have a problem giving my money to someone without receiving a receipt and shipping confirmation email shortly after. At least I do what it’s not a custom order.

As the others have said, wait. Money is always better in your bank than somebody else’s.

Waiting on a Hatsan neutron star . It was a good price I think at $500 for the wood stock one.
Store gives you a big speel that it may take up to 30 days. So since they stated that ahead of time
and I thought it was a great deal I bought. That was Dec. 7 . Emailed to inquire what’s up . That was last Friday.
Got a couple computer responses and a person that basically said nothing.
Turns out Hatsan had a 30% off coupon all along which would have been about the same price.

back in the day you would order from a catalog and could take weeks and more, todays online orders are delivered sometimes same day. makes it hard to wait lol

It is not a matter of honesty but that anything can happen between now and then. I once bought a kayak ($1,200) down in Covington, La. but could not haul it and the owner said he would hold it for me as long as needed. I went back a month later and the shop had been sold and as far as the new owner was concerned there was no record of a kayak being paid for and being held. Even with the sales receipt showing I had paid in full and the kayak was being held for later pickup, a lot of fussing and fighting and being cursed out and called a lier I finally got my kayak with the admonition to NEVER come back. The next month I went down again to visit family and noticed the shop was closed, empty and gone. Only give for a preorder what you can afford to lose.

Another thing I'd like to point out is when a company charges you the full price the day you order and you pay using PP for example, you only have six months to file a claim. Twice, I was 2 weeks from the six month limit when I filed a claim. Once you are past six months, you have no claim. I did lose 100 some dollars that way to one dealer. He tagged me along past the six months so I gave him the benefit of the doubt then he told me to get screwed.

@cmatera Do you mind sharing the dealer that shafted you so some of us don't make the same mistake?

Having seen the many posts the last couple years here, regarding waiting for several months on a pre-order I would not. If it was cheap or custom that might be different, but I dont like the idea of spending a mortgage payment on something that might not be in your hands for a few seasons.

I mean if you are willing to pre order it doesn’t really matter. I wouldn’t want to lose a cpl hundred bucks either so I’d be in for the wait either way

I've done it with established craftsmen for custom work. Like the Vernon Austin grips on my 1701P. I paid up front, full price, and waited a month to get them. They were only $100, but with that particular gentleman I would have put a lot more on the table for his work. I would not drop full price for a preorder under any other circumstances. Heck, I wouldn't do a deposit either. Only if the vendor's reputation warranted the risk and I really, really wanted what they were laying down.
