Tuning Would a tank enjoy a depinger, or only cylinders?

I have a Benji Kratos and was looking at doing things to make it even more quiet. I found out about depinging, but I only really see those used on guns with cylinders such as the Marauder, etc. Do guns with tanks have the same "ping" issue as those with cylinders, and would my Kratos tank benefit from adding a baby bottle brush or something?

Context.

Thanks!

I had no idea that there even was a ruberr band rage.

Are you trying to make it quiter for you the shooter, or for those around you? I as, because it is likely that those around you may not even be hearing a ping.
One of my guns has a ping, but it does not bother me. In fact, I kind of like it because it stops when my tank pressure drops close to regulated pressure, so it makes a good indicator for me since I can't read those tiny gauges anyway.

Stick a bottle brush inside. I use a 3 inch brush to quiet a 62 mm tank. Cut shaft of near brush and bend a loop in the wire. This allows you something to hook to, to pull out. It will take care of your ping.

Generally "ONLY" Non-Regulated PCP's have Ping.
Said ... a Non regulated "Bottle" gun can have some resonance, but due to bottles being softer aluminum or those wrapped in Glass or CF these vessels don't ping/ring like an air tube does.
You are probably right.
As I understand it, mine isnot actually a ping, but rather the sound of air pasing through the check valve after the regulator. That is why the sound stops when the tank pressure gets close to the same as regulated pressure.

good question! Both, to be honest, just in general I think it would be fun and cool to make the gun overall as silent as possible, but it also is necessary for my neighbors. So even if others perceive it as silly or unnecessary, I still want to make the gun as silent as possible in every way without sacrificing performance. Any suggestion?

I get that.
I have read about the bottle brush solution mentioned in post #7 quite a few times. Seems like an easy and cheap thing to try, and I can't see any way it would effect performance.

Honestly though, my RTI with the 0db moderator is quieter than the sound of the pellet when it hits the target backstop.

I’ve heard really good things about the 0db mods. Arguably ”better” than a Donny, or is it just down to aesthetic preference? a moderator is next on my list.

I will try the bottle brush method sometime this week. That sounds like a good and fun opportunity to learn how to remove the bottle from my gun. Thanks!

I have never used a Donny, so I can't make a comparison.

The big plenum regulated ones can have ‘the ping’ ,have made and fitted a few depinger and made it go…….

Not familiar with that gun but in a lot of cases it's often the action that will cause the ping Krals are famous for it, I tried a bottle brush in the bottle, a delrin hammer tip and still not quiet and in the end I got rid of most of the ping by adding a O ring to the seat of the valve, it's amazing just what parts can actually cause ping and people end up chasing ghosts.

Funny, after reading and contributing to this thread, I was at my local range and a guy showed up with a Sidewinder in 30 cal. He had his bottle dipped or sprayed with rubber tool coating. It was day glow orange. I asked him about it and he said it was not only to show it was a non powder burner but that it also dampened the sound. I asked if it worked and he swore by it. I could really tell no difference in the sound between my Sidewinder Compact .22 and his .30 other than the 30 is probably louder.

Does it cover the full length of the tank?
No, set it in the middle of the tank. I have the same bottle brush in the picture in 4 different tanks, from 700ml to 300 ml. If you have a smaller OD tank than 62mm size the brush to where it grips the sides but doesn't overfill. Message me if you decide to do it I can help with sizing and installation.
