Well, fixed wedge piston seals take a little
courage to
remove and put on. In both cases, no matter how hard the seal is, it is always recommended to keep it in hot water for a few minutes to make them softer. There is actually
no need to worry that the seal will break, since the plastic it's made of is very sturdy. I usually take them off with a flat-head screwdriver and force. If done carefully, no harm is done to the seal. And for putting them on, I just heat the water to the boil, pour it
into a cup and place the seal for 2-5 min., like making a tea
. In that time, the seal becomes
quite malleable, although some force is needed to get it over the wedge.
What concerns me about the CZ seal, which is made of PU (polyurethane), is that it's soft and malleable as it is. So no need for heat treatment. These are very good seals, but they can't handle colder temperatures. If it's -5 degrees C (23F), it might become hard and brittle. Just saying out of
