Back when we had cool/dangerous toys

Was downstairs tonight looking for a lost box of aluminum and brass rods. Saw a box that made me curious. It had all my yearbooks in it and a gem from my early teens. It’s been probably 44 years since my dad signed the little order form I snipped from some magazine and my mom taking me to the bank for a money order. If you’re old enough, you all remember the 4-6 week wait after you mailed your envelope. Anyway, the thing was broke. Something motivated me to fix it. Then my girlfriend chirping about a plane crash and wanting me in the living room really motivated me. I told her, just wait. She caught the first rubber pellet. Well the blanket she was under on the couch actually did. We laughed about how wicked some of our toys were as kids. This gun caused some anger when I was a kid. Now it would probably cause a lawsuit. Figured I would post this because it is an airgun and maybe some post 50 guys like myself might like to see something from the good old days. Yes, it’s .22 caliber and shoots what appears to be a rubber MRD.

Thanks. 🙂

Made me smile thinking about all that stuff we did back as teenagers, stuff that is probably illegal now. 😳

Who would have guessed that the "water hammer" from flushing every toilet and operating every tap in the school at the lunch bell would burst a six inch water main when they were suddenly turned off. 😬

...School was closed for 3 days for repairs 😁

Amazing that we all survived without being protected (stifled?) from ourselves.

Cheers!

I had one of these when I was probably around 8 or 9 in the 70s. We might have been young but we could really get this thing rolling. Don't know how many neighborhood kids ended up at the ER. Can't believe my parents never got sued.

Not in this day and age. Someone walking in front of your house, trip over their own stupid feet, nose dive into your hedge and expect a million dollar payout for pain and suffering. Different times for sure.

Back inte mid-60s, Daisy made a a airgun that shot cork balls that were around .40cal. 😳. My brothers and I got them for Christmas one year. Christmas balls on the tree were a logical first target..at least we thought so. I can remember my Mom asking where all the gold ornaments went. 🤔 We soon discovered that berries from our carrot wood tree were the same size as the cork balls. Dang those stung.

organic projectiles: cheap and bio-degradeable. a stamp out tool in suitable diameters diameters, would bring back the good old potato cannon vibe.
