Steyr “New” LP50

Just got this LP50 Compact in the mail from the seller. He described it as “like new” and he wasn’t kidding! These are just a lot of fun to shoot. Included in the box, much to my surprise, was a Steyr Weaver rail! It’s hiding in the hole where the fill probe usually is. I will put it to good use as these old eyes can use the help. Many thanks to Tim from Tucson!! Pics from seller.
Tackleberry: Note the serial number!!

I am just a tiny bit jealous, but too cheap to spend a lot of money on something that I would relegate to a basement toy. I hope it shoots well for you. Old eyes?:) 30 yrs ago for an Army over 40 phyiscal the optometrist told me I had the eyes of a 75 yr old. I am 70 now and they have not improved over time. However, I did make up a pair of shooting glasses that work for me when using standard iron sights on my 46M and pair of 777s. When I get totally disgusted with shooting these 3 pistols on my 9m basement range I get the 717 out that I put a 46M barrel weaver rail on with a red dot. Shooting the 717 with the optic doesn't make me feel better but I do get some revenge on that stupid little bullseye.

Yes, they are not inexpensive, but, at 79, I tend to be generous with myself. I figure, what am I saving it for? There are still deals to be had on used models. This one was a bargain IMO!

I had cataract surgery on both eyes about 3-4 years ago. I still need readers for close up but I can see the front sight pretty well. I have had red dots on all my pistols and haven’t shot with open sights for more years than I can remember.

I put up a target at 25 yards outdoors and tried the open sights standing, off hand with a 2 hand hold. The first shot was high, off the paper about 2”. I fired off 4 more using a sub six hold and then changed from 7.33 to 7.72g pellets. I was pretty happy to keep them in the black, see the results below.

These pistols are good for a lot more than 10M. Many Bullseye shooters train with them at 25 yard timed and rapid fire as well as slow fire. The long barrel RF model would be better for 25 yds IMO, but this compact standard model ain’t too bad either 🤓.
