Gamo Bone Collector speed test

It's amazing how just a little weight and shape can cause a swing in fps .

Heck I seen a slightly heavier pellets out fps a lighter one
Interesting note. I have these 2 that are same head size and weight. Just different design.
I was averaging 815fps with the FTT’s
Going downstairs later to shoot the Excites. Be interesting to see the difference.

First off, very few manufacturers tell you the truth about velocity and accuracy, while it may be technically the truth that they got 1100 FPS out of their test rifle, but they don't tell you that it was the best of many tests using the lightest pellets and in the best clinical windless environment.
That being said, all air gun are individuals, how yours performs depends on make, model, brand, whether it has a wood stock or polymer, what the weather is like, what brand, weight and design pellet you're using, what weight pellets you are shooting.
Is your Bone collector the Gen-1 or a swarm model, I have the Gen2 GAMO Swarm (first gen. Swarm rifle), I like it, but it's not my most powerful or accurate air rifle, the claim on the box was 1000 FPS, mine is giving me 750 FPS with 14.3 gr. lead pellets, about the same as yours, I keep mine strictly for sm. game, it's getting about 18 FPE about the same as yours, That IMHO is pretty good for a break barrel gas ram air rifle, I'd say if yours is shooting at 750FPS with a 14.66 pellet, that's about 18.60 FPE, Not too shabby.

Agree with everything you mentioned. Only i have forgot to mention, I used the HW 97 for this set of shots. My bone Collector is still apart waiting for seals. Seal for the new piston i make, and one for the factory piston, that had to sacrifice to remove. Was way to tight, could not pry it off although heated up in hot water and heat gun. Before taking it apart, the Bone Collector was averaging 740 fps. with almost any 14-15 gr.

Thanks for the reply, I wish you good luck with trying to up the velocity, so far I haven't talked to anyone that has tried to rebuild or tune one of the Bone collectors, I bought mine new about six years ago, my adult son is into air guns and he liked the looks of mine and bought the second generation Swarm Bone Collector, it shot ok but didn't deliver the promised velocity or accuracy advertised, so he traded it in at New England Air Guns for a PCP rifle.
One other friend on another air gun forum bought one and was disappointed with it's performance, when he sold it he mailed me a couple of his extra 10 shot magazines.
As I said I keep mine for pesting and small game hunting, at 17~18 fpe its plenty powerful enough for that use, it's not the most accurate air rifle I own but for anything 35 ysds. or under it's good enough, what does make it shine is the 10 shot magazine, in the woods hunting one magazine in the rifle and a spare in a pocket keep you from having to fumble with pellets with half frozen fingers or dropping a bunch of pellets on the ground.

My Gen 2 Bone Collector needs 5.55mm headed pellets. Smaller ones are too inaccurate.
