Yea Athlons Heras BIG 56mm objective on the 6-24x or a Sightrons 10-50x60mm make them VERY bright optics even in lower light / shade conditions.

I'm having fun just reading and looking at your scope collection..lol. If you never find what you're looking for, then you'll always be able to play with new and old scopes, the search is half the fun, yes?

The problem is that most of the better PRS-type scopes don't focus down to 10 yards.
Also, when picking a scope for Hunter, don't get too much magnification if buying a FFP scope. The reticle on a 35x or 40x scope get's real small at 16x . I wouldn't go much bigger than 20x for a FFP scope, SFP you can go as big as you want since the reticle is always the same size.

I did my best trying to create dope with my Titan 3-18x50 FFP today but damn that APR2D reticle was kicking my butt, better with illumination on but still… wondering if i should give up on this particular scope/reticle combo?
The thickness on the Sightron S3 SFP and Sightrons S-Tacs FFP is way better but the separation between zero and 1 requires a lot of guesswork

I had the S8, and to me, the additional weight v value at 16x restriction wasn‘t worth it For HFT. In my case more weight in offhand shooting quickly reduces my KZ scores.

Try that new Ares BTR G3 2.5-15 with .06 mil reticle thickness. A friend in my FT club is using a G2 Ares BTR 2.5-15 in Hunter. He finishes at or near the top and has gotten high score at our match quite a few times.
Was it a SFP Heras 6-24 or a FFP Heras FFP that Motorhead uses?

I did a scope switcharoo today:
mounted Athlons Helos BTR Gen2
4-20x50 FFP/IR APRS-6 reticle 1/10 mil
so far I’m very happy with the reticle thickness
Used a Scope Werks 5” mag wheel on it
I’ll begin calibrating my ranging wheel
tomorow
then it’s time for some fresh dope n data
let the fun begin

I think you guys will find the .06 mil thick reticle in the Ares BTR G3 about perfect. Athlon seriously outdid themselves with this scope.

Yesterday I set up my Wolverine Sapphire with an Athlon Helos BTR Gen2, 4-20x50
1/10 mil it has the APRS6 reticle
I used a 5” scope Werks mag wheel.
While I really liked the thickness of the reticle at 16x the spread on the 5” wheel was poor, as in 40 to 55 a crap shoot with lots of guestimates
However, the ranging is very repeatable VERY!
Darn darn it darn - every thing is a trade off.
To date the biggest rotational spread on a 6” wheel is the Element 3-18x50 at 270 degrees.
