Has anyone tried using zinc jacketed slugs? I know copper jackets wont work, but zinc is quite a bit softer than copper. Not like lead slugs, but still softer.

I'm sure there have been attempts but the pressures needed are too great for our current guns. It's also not a guiding metal like copper, it's not plastic enough.

RMR Bullets out of Idaho, who actually makes FX Hybrids, sells zinc jacketed slug. As well as bulk quantities of the Hybrids that FX claims dibs on. Not many know that I don’t think. Nothing against FX at all, I just got to snooping around and found them. Supposedly Zinc is quite a bit softer and more slippery than copper, according to RMR. I know copper jackets are bad Juju for air rifles.

I think copper is fine for airguns. But if your barrel is lead-fouled, you should clean it out before firing copper.

What would be the advantage? I would think if there was one, at least a few people would already be doing it.

I would think because of finish, the BC would be better especially on boat tails for big bore.

Zinc is more brittle and not as dense as lead. It might work as a jacket but it might not hold the rifling or come to pieces at impact. Airguns don't need a jacket IMHO.
