compact and HFT kind of suck lol. Hawke Sidewinders are great scopes, not compact but you will like the rest of the quality especially for HFT.

y really are a good small light scope and the price is awesome. I personally like the side parallax with mildot holdover . They sell them elsewhere too.

I like my Veyron, SFP 6-24, but I don't think the parallax would work well for ranging the target. I don't know where you'd get a big parallax wheel for it either. To judge range accurately you want the parallax to be blurry unless it is set to the range of your target. My Veyron is not real sensitive. If you just want to try HFT it would work but to be competitive I think you'd want something like a 6-24 Midas tac which is not a compact scope.

I have never used an Optisan scope. The scope I have that seems to have the "best" parallax for HFT is an Athlon Argos 10-40. A long heavy target scope. I see the sort of parallax adjustment needed for HFT as inconsistent to what I want for hunting or other purposes. If I have the parallax close to the range to the target (within 10-15 yards) I want to be able to take the shot. But that is not what you want for HFT. Especially at 40 to 55 yards you need to be able to tell the range or you won't get the drop right.

Look at the Midas Tac line from Athlon and expand the upper magnification so you are not at the scope max when in competition.

I have the Optisan CP 3-12x32 scope on three springers. Great optic, my only complaint is the reticle can get hard to see in low light because it is so fine. Very robust scope, has been on my hot-rodded HW77 for the last three years, no issues.I was looking at this...

If you want FFP then Athlon is coming out with a Midas TAC G2 4-16 with a slightly thicker reticle and likewise same for the new Ares BTR G3 2.5-15. I'm anticipating improvements to the already great earlier Gen's of these same scopes.
A thicker reticle means if on lower power for hunting we'll see the reticles easier in dimly lit backgounds as well as making out hash marks on 15x-16x for holds in HFT.

I wrote a review on compact scopes in the optics section, but can’t comment on the use of these for HFT. I would definitely rule out the Veyron. You might check out the Athlon Heras 4-20 .

Nobody likes the Hawke Airmax Compacts? I have other Hawke scopes, not the compacts though, and very happy with them for HFT or hunting. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised nobody else has mentioned the compacts. Price maybe?

I have one in 4-16x. Its an OK scope, but I dont love it. The eyebox its small and the reticle sometimes is not in focus. I much prefer my veyron in reticle clarity. And its cheaper.
