FX Superior Heavy or FX Superior Slug barrels. What is the difference?

I ordered a Superior Heavy .25 barrel from Utah Airguns, and I received a "Superior Slug" barrel instead. The barrel marking show

I send a email to Utah Airguns and probably won't hear back from them until Monday. Anybody know if I received the right "Superior Heavy" barrel and maybe just a name change from Superior Heavy to Superior Slug?

Thanks to everybody that chimed in.

I think I have a part number and name for a Superior Heavy barrel. I really wont know until I hear back from Utah Airguns. Since the 1:18 twist rate is the same as the Superior heavy, the" Superior Slug" barrel might be the same. Maybe with a different name? I will report back with my finding when available.

I received an email from Utah Airguns that the "Superior Slug" is the same as the "Superior Heavy"

Likely new part name with a new part number. Same Twist rate of 1:18 as the Superior Heavy.

Different names of the same thing. There's a superior and a superior heavy. Some call the heavy a slug liner (superior slug)

There used to be Pellet A, Pellet B and Slug A liners. Now it's just superior and superior heavy.

Saw Matt last nite on fairly new you tube. I understand him to say that there wasn't much difference between slug and heavy superior but twist rate. I'm sure that the twist is the key. However I've finally been able to tune my gen 1 Imp to shoot the 34 & 36 NSA slugs to a 2" group @ 125 yes. Superior heavy 25/700. MOA 34g JSB @ 100 and slugs real close to that. I've accepted that is as good as this gun gets maverick compact shoots MOA W/ 25g JSB. Real close w/ hybrid fx..

Little off topic, sorry.

Slug is 16 twist and SH is 18 twist. So they are not the same. Not sure where UA got that unfo

Superior Slug?
这是对 2022 年徽标的更改,以及对衬里入口和出口的公差和尺寸的调整。扭曲率在 2023 年发生了变化。

I live in Uk and my local shop was told the new heavy stx liners are now better and are a 1:16 twist not the 1:18 which I understand was the replacement for the slug .All kind of confusing I know

I spent about 2-3 hundred ZAN's so far (37 and 41 grain) and could not figure the speed to match the twist rate on Superior Heavy. Spiralling = spreading at variable distances.
Sounds like a bad barrel it happens!
I would get a new and try again!
Do you have the carbon fiber sleeve on it? It's a must to shoot those heavy slugs.

Reply to old post. Abandoned the slugs shooting long ago. I have CF sleeves but not bounded (lucky me), I feel the floating liners (on orings) works better for me.

I prefer the 1:18 barrel because it shoots both slugs and the 34 gr JSB pellet very accurately. I rarely use slugs as they are too expensive and are not an advantage below 100 meters. Spiraling typically occurs with pellets because they are spinning too fast. That causes the drag stabilization of the pellet to compete with the spin stabilization of the slug. In that light and my usage, the 1:18 barrel is better. If you only want to shoot slugs the 1:16 barrel may be preferable.

Lol I didn't see the date on that post!
Accuracy with the new generation of barrels now is way better than back then!
My new King with the 1:18 600mm is a tack driver! I'm only using 34 grain right now because it suits my purpose just fine. It shoots the 34 JSBs equally well.

At my gun range I am a only one shooting = training and practising with airguns. Some 50 M but mostly 100 BR with my Impact MK2.
At the time I was playing with slugs I have not seen improved performance over pellets.
Last year I was tinkering about getting a dedicated slug - FX gun for 200 M range, but finally decided and got one f-class W308 project rifle instead.
So up to 100 M with airgun, and over 200 M a PB.
