Theoben How to detune a Rapid?

Simply using a weaker hammer spring is an option if you are okay with using a lower fill pressure and not counting on a meaningful improvement in shot count.

Otherwise what you would want to do is restrict the transfer port and/or valve exhaust. This approach is how you can bring down the power and still fill to the reservoir to its full rated pressure, which in turn will produce a higher shot count.

Well might a simple fix ...Is the Hammer adjustment plug screwed all the Way In??

If so, just backed off until it flush with the receiver...

Also the rapid brought into the US were HP/FAC models...
So depending the age.. the Later ones Used 2 Hammer-springs!!

If so, you can remove the Inner spring....

Next if you have access to springs..... Replace the valve return spring with one that is a little stronger...
Don't be concerned if is a bit long... you can always grind it down to suit....

I’ve got an old Rapid 7 (non-regg’d) that is shooting about 33 ft. lbs. that I’d like to bring under 20. Do I just get a lighter hammer spring, or is there something more that needs to be done? Any different methods to go sub 12?
If you think about it, you DO NOT want to "detune" you gun...do you. That means to turn all of the adjustments to screw up...the guns adjustments...right ?

Sounds like you just want to "tune" your fun into shooting at a lower feet per second...right ?
I do the same thing. I "tune"...my rifles to shoot in the 800 feet per second range. I do this for a couple of reasons, but that's beside the point.

Yes...TUNE your Rapid Air rifle to meet your rifle to meet the feet per second / ft. pounds that you desire.
