Homemade BR Stock

This is my homemade stock that I made for a Raw TM1000 that I purchased as a lefty, knowing full well that I am a righty. It took me 4 or 5 months to get started on it because I wanted to make sure that my shop was clean and ready to take on this project. I have previously made my first stock out of oak because it was what I had at the time and I needed to practice. I also made some stuff for another gun using laminate wood. It was definitely softer and easier to work with.

Awesome looking stock. After you routed out the interior did you pillar and glass bed the stock to the action?

What are the square head bolts for on the butt plate?
The square bolts are more like large wood screws. They were something my Dad used years ago, for what I have no idea. I just wanted more of a finished look instead of having nothing there. Being a bench stock you’re really not supposed to put your shoulder there anyway, based on what I was taught . I am just a newbie when it comes to bench rest and just trying to get better. I didn’t pillar the action or bed it. Not sure what that is ? I just tried to make it fit the best I could using my router. It’s not as perfect as I would have liked it, router got away from me one time and went deeper than it should’ve.

Thanks again for the kind words!

The walnut TH in the backgroud is Sweet!
Shame to have to sideline it, but i fully understand the need for the right tools for the job
It's a beatiful BR stock!...The whole package looks Awesome!

It is a shame. The only thing I can use it for is parts to make a FT stock out of the other half I have left or something else.

I was pretty set in my opinion to leave it sanded but unfinished but now seeing it with the finish I like that better.

Next time you're around I can show you the pillar and action bedding on my Thomas. It's clean and simple and shows what it's about.
Thanks buddy, I ended up just using Minwax Tung Oil. I’ll get better at it if I do another stock. I would never turn down a chance to check out that gun again! 👍🏼
