I've been envious of the pesting videos. seems we have a pest problem of large proportions, within blocks of my home. Nutria! No bounty like down in Louisiana, but Nutria are an issue in SW Washington. We have a system of sloughs around Longview here, the Nutria really tear the joint up, a very destructive pest. A hunting license is required, otherwise zero restrictions since Washington declares them an invasive destructive species. Since they are "cute" I'll need to use good judgement reducing the population. Local laws prohibit firearms discharge inside the city and parts are in city limits, my air rifles are fine regardless. Be perfect for the kayak when it quits raining. Look for some Nutria shots soon.

Yeah they have fur similar to a muskrat. Back when I trapped I tried to fix a muskrat because my Dad had told me how good they were, it must of been eating wild onions because the whole house wreaked of it. That was the last time I ever tried that.
Have eaten raccoon and groundhog quiet a bit when younger and both are good if fixed right. Ate rabbit and squirrel at least twice a week when they were in season.
Fed a guy and his family 2-3 raccoons a week one winter when he got layed off and was out of work when I was still trapping.
Been close to 45 yrs ago.

The water district guy is already hunting them from a boat. They are glad to have the help, Wa law leaves us wide open since they are both invasive and destructive. A hunting license is required, that's it. I hear Thursday may be good weather. If I go W/O the kayak I need a dead nutria retrieval system, while I won't eat them, I will not leave them to rot either. I live here too! Maybe I can modify my drone in a tree retrieval system, a wrist rocket and a big Zebco closed face spinning reel. Shoot weight over tree branch, shake like crazy drone falls out of tree (most of time) need hooks for dead critters.

I've seen remote control boats and ones disguised as ducks for waterfowl retrieval. People will also use a fishing rod with treble hook. Dull the points and close the barbs to help prevent snags.
