New to the world of air guns. Last time I used anything like them was the good old Daisy when I was a kid.

I have an armadillo issue.
I live in an HOA subdivision with traditional firearm discharge policies in place, so firing my traditional rifle or handgun isn't an option. I do not want to go the crossbow route.

The closest house to mine is about 80-90 yards away.

I am liking the HW98 in a 22. The question is, would that be powerful enough to send them onto critter heaven with a body shot, at a maximum range of less than 20 yards?

The next question, are there sellers who sell these new, tuned, and with a scope which can handle the vibration feedback off of it? Scope recommendations for it are appreciated, especially if I can swap it over to other rifles.

I have been highly impressed with the Weihrauch quality, accuracy and power of their rifles I've watched in videos.

I am not dead set on the HW98, and I am open to another line, but it would need to be as high of quality, and easily tuned.

Thsnk you for your time, and sage advice.

This will be my one and done purchase. It will be solely for critters, grand kids target practice in the back yard.

haha ! To the last sentence. Strictly bought my first cheap gun at Tractor Supply. Just to deter some squirrels.
I was so impressed had to delve deeper to find out what it was all about. Well happily its now my full time hobby.
I realize this may be only temporary, but it sure is occupying my time now.

60 yards to next house, not bad . Silence is better than asking and being told no.
Unfortunately, I am already not in the good graces of the HOA for flying a certain individuals flag around election time, and not taking it down, as well as speaking up when they make crap up that was never in the covenants and bylaws when they want people to do what they want. So moving forward in a louder manner would really cook me with them.

ever thought about moving to a no-HOA place . I know might not be practical . But when it comes to retirement that was the first question i ask of Realtors .

This was the reason for my question.
funny when shooting bows and practicing with broad heads nobody gave it a second thought about being illegal but an unfriendly neighbor sees a pellet gun and might be concerned. Both equally illegal in NYS because of Dept. of Environmental Conservation laws regarding distance to neighboring houses.
Doesn’t mean I won’t pop a critter.

I don't mind HOA when they follow their own policies laid out. It keeps the property values up, and I can walk across the street to the 13th green. I buy where I know I can make at least 25-40% profit within 3-5 years and sell. I've lived in plenty of HOA locations. This is the first one we've had issues with. Lots of old old money in this town and if you aren't part of that, you aren't in their club.

I've only shot one armadillo and I used a 32 fpe 22 caliber pcp. I don't remember the weight but it was over 5 lbs. I killed it but it took multiple shots. My note to myself is to use the 25 caliber next time. My guess is that nice break barrel is it would be a bit disappointing in terms of how many shots you'd need to put into them. They are a lot bigger than a squirrel.
