Crosman 2240 parts help.

I have a crooked barn tomcat 2240 with a 14 inch barrel and a don c. stainless 3000psi tube and disco valve and hammer and spring. I love this gun it has taken more coons than any other gun I own. My problem is I need a stronger hammer spring so I can take advantage of a full fill. If I fill to 3000psi I have to waste air down to around 2600psi with under powered shots. Does anyone know where to get one, and what length and wire size. Also is Neal still making ldc's, and if not who makes one that would quiet this down. It is loud. Mark

Check out Magnum Air Power.

He’s got 3 sizes.
And is having a15% off sale currently
Bill might also recommend a spring if you ask him

Sounds like 2600psi is your sweet spot or peak on your gun (at current tune). Sorry if I’m repeating what you know. Unregulated guns have what is called a bell curve. They start shooting at a lower velocity (at the high fill pressure), then peak around the middle pressure(your sweet spot), then velocity drops at a lower pressure.
Most don’t fill unreg guns to the very max because of this. Theres tons of info in the forums on unregulated guns if needed.

A stronger spring will give you more power(less shots).I’m assuming you have your current spring maxed out. Should be able to tune your gun to a higher sweet spot starting say 2800psi vs 2600 now. It’s all a balancing game with unregulated guns. Goal is to get that sweet spot to shoot as many consistent spots as possible.

I suck at explaining stuff but hope that helps.

Thanks for the heads up guys, I will call him and see what he says. I would like to get a couple more shots out of it than I get now. Any idea who makes a good ldc that works with more than stock power. I don't want to spend a bunch on one either if possible. Mark
Buckrail makes a cheap ldc that alot of guys are happy with. TKO is another decent company. I have a tko on my Disco and it definitely helps. It’s held on with set screws so no adapter needed. Also Mike from TKO is very knowledgeable on those guns. He might be able to help you get a few more shots from your gun. Those are the two budget names that come to mind.

I just realized your gun was built by Jim Giles. That was before my Airgun time but I’ve heard his name mentioned in the forums. If you have any pictures I’d love to see your gun.

Rob here is a picture of my 2240 it is wearing a Millett sp-1. I wish I would have bought everyone I saw for sale.

Nice! I have a 2240 with a stock and it has a shortened disco tube. Once I’m finished with my Prod I’m going to start messing with it. Fun guns.

I always have my eyes open for another SP1. Fantastic little dot sight. I got this one for 10 bucks off Craig's List. It found a home on a 2240

Mike I thought I got a deal at $75 twenty years ago, Is your shroud functional or just looks, really like the way it looks. Mark
It works really well, I made 2 of them years ago. Still have one sitting on the shelf. Specific for a 2240 with a 10 &1/8" barrel.
