FWB FWB 90

Hi all,..I’m looking for some advice. I have a FWB 90 that I was shooting this morning. The cocking lever won’t return to the locked position. I don’t want to force it and bend or break anything. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so knows a remedy? Thanks for your help. John

You haven’t cocked it far enough??
I can cock it all the way back…I’ve had this thing for a couple of decades…it simply won’t return. I’ve even pressed the catch that tells it the bolt is closed and tripped the trigger... I’m not opposed to disassembling it…I was just hoping to have an idea of what to look for. Thanks John

That right there is enough to make a grown man cry. I feel your pain.

if you took the grip frame off and remember there is a spring under the front plastic cover you might see the problem
my guess something broke
there was a post like these on a UK forum with a 65 but i never saw the outcome
getting the spring pressure off is your first challenge and you need an extra set of hands, so everything doesn't slam forward
i rebuilt my 90 many years ago they are complicated
you have little choice but to take the grip frame off
also is the cocking arm screw tight
i will look for the answer

i will answer for John
he did take the grip frame off and found that the trigger assembly was very dirty after some clearer and air the gun cocked and work as it should
he then decided to send it to David Slade to be rebuilt because it has never been touch
we had been talking through messaging and that is why i know the details
i believe he made a good call on the rebuild and to send it out
even though i have done my FBW 90 it was not fun, big fingers and small parts do not mix
the FWB 65-80-90 pistols are hard for most people the first time but that is my opinion, i can do a Diana model 6 in my sleep but the FWB just keep me up

a FWB 65-80-90 pistol is something that every shooter should try at some point, for no other reason to see what they are all about
one thing about the pistols is they hold their value very well 15 years ago you could get a nice one for 300 bucks and now they are anywhere between 450-700
now my opinion
i think they are hard to cock and after a while your hand that has the cocking handle in it will be saying the same thing
i have said many times this is a---BUY TO TRY WORLD----- and the FWB side cockers should be on a pistol shooter short list

enjoy your new pistol Beerthief

I have two each of the models 65 and 80 and do not find them hard to cock. I hold with the grip in my right hand, lay the barrel along my leg or thigh and then cock with my left hand, piece of cake. If I want something really easy to cock I get out the IZH 46m
