What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

Heading to the range tomorrow which is the first time since November and to say that I am excited is an understatement. Plan to shoot a RAW 22 HMX1000 Chassis, that I picked up used over the winter. Just shot a quick card to get it on paper at 10M.

Hello @igolfat8

Looks like that RAW shoots all of the brands just fine, even the JTS with a slight Scope adjustment 😁 . Hope it does as well at 50-yards and you have a ton of fun.

I shot my brand new FX Impact M4 with a thermal scope on it. These are the last targets that I shot at today as I was doing some initial experimentation with different slugs. All are five round groups except for the lower right which is three rounds. The .22 caliber magazine only holds 28 rounds.

Thermals can be a little difficult to sight in if you are using the disposable hand warmers because of the "blooming" effect in the scope. Today was a sunny day and I was able to cut up small pieces of metallic tape and see them through the scope. The distance was 25 yards.

The projectile was the NSA slug at 31.2 grains with an average MV of 862 FPS for a little over 53 FPE.

The winds weren't cooperating very much. With that said, I'm very please with the rifle. Shout out to Toni at @Talon Tunes for making this a pleasurable experience. He's a great guy to do business with.

Hello @Steelontarget

Those are some very tight groups(y). That is an impressive and very long scope :):ROFLMAO:

It looks long because the ocular lens is dialed all the way back. My eyes aren't as good as they use to be and that's the only way that I can get the display in focus. There's actually a generous amount of eye relief; up to 100mm.

The bullseye rings on this are 3mm
Pellets straight from the tin

Hello everyone,

A beautiful 71 degree blue sky day but just a tad bit too much wind for me to shoot the pistol/carbine at 10-meters so I sat up indoors. Shot several almost identical cards but this one I was able to keep the POI all in the black.

Range: Indoors at 15-feet
Pistol: .22Cal Custom PP-800 R Pistol/Carbine w/full Buck Rail AR Conversion
Scope: UTG Bug Buster 3-9x32
Pellets: AA Accuracy Plus 13.43gr
FPS: 429
FPE: 5.5
Position: Bench w/ TPR Front and rear Bag

I was thinking about why this was so hard for me. One I can’t draw and two, maybe because I didn’t have an actual target to focus on? I screwed up 5 or 6 before I got this one and it still isn’t very good. Interesting 🤔
I have always been considered a good shot among my peers, but I used to read all the gun mags I could get my hands on, and they had articles showing people shooting across a gorge onto a rockface, shooting detailed artwork. I was shocked at these shooters. They had drawings setting in front of them that they shot at, and the bullets past through and hit the rockface across a divide that was unaccessible. Every shot had to be dead precise.
I could never replicate their work with my most accurate guns.

That is really cool ,I’ve never heard of such a thing. Hoping there might be some pictures online

That was in the early seventies. There are bound to be videos nowadays.
Edit:
Nope, nothing? I don’t remember the details, just the memory. The guy shot the figure of an indian cheif, like on the old coins.
Kind of like this.

I couldn’t find anything. I tried all the different terminology I could think of and most of it came back as photography type shooting 😁

Nope I couldn't get anything either. That TV shooting historian, Jim Scoutten, would probably know where to look. To late Jim past away two years ago.

It was a beautiful day here for a change but 7-10 MPH wind. Got my Taipan Vet Std out and shot a few 5 shot groups. It’s not great but I had fun and much needed outdoor lead therapy.

Hello @igolfat8

Well Tim you are spoiled to a degree and that is not meant to be critical. That is a well shot card that almost all of us would be happy to shoot outdoors at that distance and under those conditions.

I know that when I shoot a card like that, then on the next target I sure do try a lot harder to improve and that is what "practice" shooting is all about. OH YEAH and all the fun slinging some lead :ROFLMAO:
