"Umarex Wishes And Canex Dreams!"

@ Pettetsport Sorry to here about your bad experiences with the Canex. These rifles might be a short lived endeavor for Umarex. I'm going to nurse the ones I have along until each rifle chooses a pellet. The worst of the 3 is going to get pulled apart. I'm thinking there might be a way to modify them so they can be cocked and the trigger just brake the sear. Kind of a shame for someone that really just wants a semi / double action pellet rifle. For myself I didn't expect much from them. All the major fire arm manufacturers have there lemons. I have learned quite a bit from tinkering with bad designs and figuring out a fix. The best thing about the Canex is that it led to our conversations.

@ Contndr35BB This picture is from the rings. I dig through all the bargain bins at sporting goods stores. I had others that were of the same two piece desigh that were branded tasco. I also watch Ebay and once and a great while someone will sell scopes, rings and sights for much less then I think there worth. I buy them and they might sit in the drawer for sometimes a decade but it's kind of nice that I can scrounge around my house to throw something together quickly. Thank you for the info on another dovetail size I had no idea about. 14mm seems like another size I might make a $20 3D printed sight for. Sights made of plastic are something that don't scream high quality to me but seem to have become a industry standard on affordable air guns. Other then some high end 10 meter diopter sight I've looked at I've thought to myself "I could make a peep sight that would function better for myself." With the recent developments of 3D printers being able to hold and repeat dementions to a fairly tight tolerance, I could offer others a cheaper alternative to the $70 plus.

@ Pelletsports Thank you for the info on the 2027 trigger. I've not shot that 850 much at all but I do like it a lot. I wish I had also bought one in .177 because of the desire to shoot 10 meter targets. It's just a crazy idea that I have about shooting to a standard and as far as I know there isn't a 10 meter .22 target. No matter. Just a silly Idea. I have plenty to keep my mind busy. So after receiving that Hatsan AT44 my mind went to how nice and handy my crossman 1377 with a shoulder stock. If only it were a pcp. I been watching for Daina Bandits to come up for sale then I ran across this 2027. Some said they like it better than the Bandit. I think my 1377 will turn back into a pistol and with the help of my 3D printer the crossman stock will fit the Beeman. A poor mans Buck Rail 2027 carbine conversion. As far as the 2027 as a pistol, 30 years ago I might have been able to one hand it, but that day is long gone.

Oops! I hit 'post reply' by accident before I was done.
Don't worry about making a mistake posting on GTA. We adult airgunners are 90% good guys with great attitudes.
If a member of the 10% 'bad attitude club' makes an ugly reply, the rest of us just ignore them.
Adult airgunning is about fun and rediscovering the wonder of youth.
England first and foremost (and to a lesser extent, Germany and Spain) is the center of the global airgun community, so it is also about conducting ourselves as civilized gentlemen. Rude, insulting men quickly find themselves with only each other to speak to.
I struggle with computers and I still can't figure out how to post a photo on GTA or AGN after 7 years, so none of us is perfect.
I bet Anschutz makes a MUCH nicer barrel than our friends in China, haha.
I am told that a freshly cleaned air rifle bore needs a few dozen shots for best accuracy. The theory is that the lead fills in the rifling imperfections. I have seen it work on my cheap air rifles.
Many guys clean a lube pellets for their pre charged air rifles. The increase in accuracy is proven in competitive shooting circles. It can also be part of the thrill of personal best shooting or ethical 'lights out and straight to heaven' hunting.
I mostly shoot springers, so cleaning and sorting makes a big difference, but any lube must be removed or it will will ignite and make accuracy worse.
BTW, I would probably freeze to death just walking to the mailbox where you live, haha.
My Dad was in the Army and they only stationed him in cold places. When he retired and we got to come back home to the South I didn't even wear a jacket for years.
Now that I am middle aged, I am shivering at 55 degrees, haha.

Gta forum...not good. That's a dying forum for sure.

I see similar topics now being posted on here... I called it 2 yrs ago.

I'm so sorry. I've only got as far as building up an inventory of them. I now have 20 kits ready to ship. I'll post pictures of everything that's included in the kit. I've not listed anything on Ebay as of yet. Before the Canex sight are put up for sale I wanted to offer a alternative that fits other rifles so I have been building sights that mount on the left side of the receiver so as too not interfere with a right hand bolt handle. I did set up an email account but when I tried to share it in this forum section it got blocked. I'm unaware of how and what is exceptable and would feel terrible to do anything that would jeopardize my access to this forum I find so helpful. The question I have is would it be acceptable to post sights for sale in the classified section of Airgun Nation. I would appreciate a response from whom ever might read this as I'm not very smart when it comes to this sort-of thing.

This is what I'm including with a kit. I haven't settled on a price yet mainly because I haven't quite figured out the best way to offer them. E-bay takes a big bite of the pie. I checked with the post office and it seems I can ship to anywhere in the lower 48 states for about $6. Obviously I'm not worried about changing my income brackets because I can only make so many so fast. So I was thinking $30 a kit shipped. If someone only wants just the rear sight it would still be $25 deliverd because it cost the same to ship and the intention was to offer peaple a kit that wouldn't cost as much as the Canex does. Please have forgive my ignorance. I've never attempted an endeavor like this.

I'm still a relatively younger man of 50 some odd years and hopefully have many years of sight building ahead of me. As far as this Canex sight kit goes I have not yet put a good description into words so I will try to now. The adjustment knobs are there so a person doesn't need to go find a hex wrench to make adjustment. There are no clickers so the movements are by dead recognition. It is a .7 metric thread so one quarter of a turn changes point of impact by .093" thousands of an inch at 10 meters. If you've set your sight radius at 28 1/2 inches. Another thing I need to mention is that the dovetail fits perfectly on my three canex rifles and my Umarex 850 air magnum. I made them specifically for the Canex. The rear sights work well with the factory front sight and there is enough elevation adjustment that it could likely be set to aim at 100 yard targets. The globe front sight will except Redfield apiture inserts the ones I'm including with the kit I've used in my Redfield international match globe front sight from my high power target rifle. The globe in the kit and the dovetail also fit my Redfield bases but are held in place by a single set screws. The set screws on the rear are to keep the sight from sliding but the dovetail is a snug fit. It would be easy to remove the set screws and use the sight as a template to drill and tap the rifle to permanently attach it to the rifle. I have not felt this nessasary.

This is where I'm at as far as the alternatives sights that fit the picatinny/ weaver rail that mount left side of rifle. I have figured out a clicker to incorporate into the knob with 12 increments per revaluation. One click moves the rear sight .002" or 2 thousands of an inch. It clamps on every sight base I have to try it on and that's a lot. I would recommend a dovetail to weaver adapter for rifles with a dovetail. This makes this sight very robust. I may even do some drop testing just to see how robust. I have a small inventory of parts made up but havn't found the ambition as I have a job that I do this sort of thing day in day out and I don't want this to start feeling like a chore an take the fun out of it. I included a picture of the type of adaptors I'd reomennd. The two pictures are of the ring I made to fit one of my globes on my avenge-x for the 10 meter target.
