I currently own Zulus 3-12X and 5-20X. They are great for medium and long range but not good for short range. Ideally, 1-4X will be good for scanning and short range shooting. Has anyone tried swapping 3X lens with 1X lens?
Am really curious as to ”how” you would achieve a lense swap… Am definitely following this thread. I own the 5-20 non LRF model, It is wonderful for night vision use on rats. But will never become my primary. Recording kills is but a passing fancy to me. I mostly value it for it nighttime capabilities…I currently own Zulus 3-12X and 5-20X. 3-12 provides brighter image, less artifacts and wider field of view. Naturally, they look clearer at night. With 3-12, you zoom in smaller scales - 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, etc whereas 5-12 will zoom in bigger scales - 5, 7.5, 9, 12, etc. So you see a rapid image degradation when you zoom with 5-20. 3-12 is now my goto unit and 5-20 becomes my backup unit for very niche use case.I didn’t try that… but I got a question for you: between the 3-12 and the 5-20, is there a big difference in terms of “clarity” or quality of the picture? They have the same sensor so I’d guess the 3-12 is sharper/clearer?! I have the 5-20 and am generally happy with and might get a 3-12, but only if it’s providing a better pic than the 5-20…
Good question. Short answer is I don't know.Am really curious as to ”how” you would achieve a lense swap… Am definitely following this thread.
