Huben The GK1 has ruined me...

I was playing around this weekend and did some thinking...when is the last time I shot an airgun not a GK1.

It's been a bit...I looked at the Panthera a couple weeks ago. De-cased it and wiped it down...thought about shooting it...grabbed a GK1 instead...manically laughed as I emptied a whole magazine into a piece of steel at 50y. Yesterday, wanted to shoot the kyl I have at 35y...grabbed a GK1 that I threw an immersive optics on instead and had way too much fun. Then since the sun was hitting the kyl, pulled out the thermal GK1 and plinked away.

Yeah...this air 'pistol' has ruined other airguns for me...

I know I'm not the only person this PCP has ruined 😁

I know what you mean.
I only own 1 GK1 lol
Nice grip!
Throw an AGM Thermal vision scope on it. Under 1k$

What I find utmost strange, is how the Huben K1 has been out for 6+ years, and was super niche. While I still believe the gk1 is niche, its gaining much more traction than its older sibling the K1.

A) Is it due to the price, being more inexpensive?

B) Is it due to its form factor, being a pistol?

C) Is it due to a hype train?

D) Is it due to all the above?

Either way, while this tech is nothing new, I am glad members are finding new found joy with it.

I think the lack of popularity of the K1 vs the GK1 has multiple reasons.
#1 considering the price of the K1 the pre-2020 model had accuracy issues due to their barrel selection and stopped a lot of people including myself from getting one.
I now own one and love it
The GK1 was and still is unique in the air pistol market being the most powerful air pistol on the market making it both a great target/pesting pistol and for the first time a viable home defense air pistol. Nothing out there even comes close in air.
#2 Now in 2025 the K1 has become much more popular due to the new barrel and the accuracy issues being resolved. Considering it is a semi it’s actually quite accurate.
I also think that due to the limitation of a larger air source ( no bottle version) and non removable magazine some people are staying away from it.
#3 in the price range of the K1 there is a huge selection of amazing airguns that are available such as FX, AGT, etc but as far as pistols with GK1 power and accuracy it still stands alone as the king of power punchers accurate out to 50 meters and $1250 is still more affordable than the $1900 price tag of the K1.
I own both in 25cal and love them both

Hey, how did you get the Buck-rail AR grip adapter already? It hasn't been released yet has it? Excellent looking rigs! Off course you now need to pick up one of Kelly's shorties, lol. I guarantee you'll love it, ask Manny. Then when you look at all your GK1's, you'll be wrangling with which GK1 to shoot - do I grab the shorty, er uh...?

What do you think of @sb327 (Dave 's) GK1 customizations below? Who needs a K1 with that rig, eh! And talk about being ruined, I wish I never saw this. I'm now am on a life & death quest to have one made like this, being that I don't have a machine shop nor the skills. I already approached him to see if this is a mod he intends to make more of. Unfortunately, it's just a "One off" for him, and understandably so. So, I'll put it out there, if anyone can replicate Dave's mod below, please message me, I'll trade whatever I have in my airtillery inventory (excluding my GK1's of course, lol) or $$ to make it happen. Please anyone, any takers? Help, my survival of my ruined life depends on it, lol! Thanks a lot Gregor!!!

so I was thinking about something like that, a K1 full rifle and air tube with regulator but with the GK1 grip and folding stock..is that possible and easy to get?

It might be possible to add the gk1 grip and folder to a k1 and end up with something like I did there. Mine doesn’t have a regulator so it behaves more like the gk (mine started as a gk and I purchased a k1 reservoir and used a lw barrel). I believe the k1’s have a barrel band that ties the barrel to reservoir. That would be needed to stabilize the reservoir (obviously not the greatest for accuracy). The reservoir interface to the receiver is not solid and was designed to be supported. Since that picture was taken, I have made a barrel band with a picatinny on the bottom for a small bipod just for my own peace of mind.

a friend of mine just put regulators in both of his GK1..
177&22 caliber
I'm really curious about how they perform at lower power, like in 22 caliber around 600 fps.. I wonder if you will get a consistent string,I would imagine.. and I wonder if you get more shots with the regulator using the air more efficiently.

For me the K1 has a big problem. The looks.
I know this is highly subjective, and it should be really low in the reasons to choose a gun, but for me its really like a car. If I dont like the way it looks I would never buy it even if its the best option in theory.

I think that Huben could really do a new model bigger then the GK1 but lighter and prettier then then K1. I would be a buyer to add to my collection and next to my GK1. The new Taipan Slash looks the part, lets see how it compares to the K1.

It’s super comfortable and easy to shoulder

Miguel,

I fully understand.

I have really tried to LIKE the LOOKS of the K1. 😢

And I continue to fail.... 🤷🏻‍♂️

➧ I am all in for bullpups.
➧ I am all for tactical guns. Black guns. What have you.

⛔ But the HUBEN HUMP really turns me off....
Then there is the bad barrel band.
And the ill-designed end of the airtube.

Would I spend that much money — only to hurt my eyes every time I look at the gun.... — I bet there are cheaper ways to satisfy masochistic tendencies....

Just one opinion, of course.

Matthias

I like some variety - maybe a red head, and a brunette to go with my blonde…

I own the Gk1 & K1 both in 25. My gk1 setup as a carbine is a lot of fun powerful and amazingly accurate but my dream version would be a longer barrel and air tube. As far as the complaints about the K1 being unsightly I just don’t see it. It may be a bit form over function but it’s still the only semi I’ve owned or have knowledge of that can shoot a 25.4 pellet @ 1000fps and still stay in a 3/4 circle. Almost 60 ft lbs from a 25.4 pellet. Screw the hump this gun rocks. The Gk1 is everything and more than I expected out of a pcp pistol.
People I think we’ve gotten spoiled. these and many other new pcp’s available today are guns that we could only have dreamed of five years ago. Yes I know the K-1 has been around for more than five years, but the new version is much more accurate than the old one.

Well, I went with the walnut. It distracts me from the hump.😉

I've owned a lot of PCP's since my first one in 1989, (Sportsmatch GC2).
And this gun performs at the top of my AG experience. Super reliable, powerful, and giggly accurate. And like others said, very comfortable to shoulder.
Oh, the walnut version is lighter too!
Have fun.

Beautiful. Just shot a small tin of Aea 25.4 to relax. Love this gun.
