N/A Stoeger Bullshark or Air Venturi Avenger Bullpup II ?

No experience with the Avenger bullpup. But my 3 P35s (essentially the same as a Stoeger Bullshark) are better in my opinion than my Avenger. The Avenger has more features like external regulator adjustment but also uses plastic for too many things in my opinion. The Bullshark only has plastic in the stock, not the action of the gun. My P35s are also more accurate. Easier trigger adjustment too. I much prefer the P35/Bullshark.

I’ve owned two original avengers. One in 25 and one in 22. Both were great. The 22 did have really low poi out of the box. One of the scope rail sections needed tightening. Both were incredibly accurate. Especially the 22. That gun was easily capable of 1/2 inch 50 groups with literally everything I put in it from jsb 18 to crosman hp 14.3. I did add the Donny Fl adapter to both guns to support the barrel and center the shroud. Neither ever leaked (had both for probably a year or more ) did experience a little bit of regulator creep. Just about every gun does that despite what you read. Even my fxs (plural) have all creeped 4-6 bar.

To me regulator creep is a drawback of having a gauge on the regulated chamber. The Bullshark does not and I don't think that is a significant disadvantage. It forces users to look for changes in POI or velocity instead of focusing on small movements of an inexpensive gauge. I am not accusing anybody of anything, just observing the POI and velocity is what we really care about.

My 25 Avenger leaked when I got it but Air Venturi fixed it and it has not leaked since. But I was out something like $80 to ship it back to them. It is accurate but my best 30 yard challenge score with it is about 185. All my 3 P35s have done significantly better than that. The P35-25s best is 194, the P35-177 has done a 197 and the P35-22 has given me one 200. I'm hoping to better the P35-177 this year. It seems more accurate than a 197 but it is terribly wind sensitive (like other 177s from what I can gather). This year my best target is a 198 with the P35-22. It is at least as accurate as my Caiman X that cost about 3X.

The main purpose for this is pest control…Ravens for the most part…last year they tore up a cloth awning cover on a RV that was being stored in our storage yard…they also tore a hole in the rubberized roof of a very expensive motorhome along with two air conditioning covers… not to mention the two baby killdeer chicks 🐣 they carried off… 😡
Their destruction stopped after I popped one with a .22 lr. (They’re fast learners) every morning and evening, I’d see them fly up and down the hill, but after one of them got popped, they’d DETOUR around the property, taking care not to get too close. It’s legal to shoot firearms where I am, but I’m not comfortable with doing it willy nilly because I live next to a state highway… coyotes are at times are a problem too, but like ravens. They learn quick.

Jim I often wonder how long you take doing a 30 yard challenge. I’m sure it’s slow and methodical.

You’ve been chasing those 200s and I applaud your honesty

My bullshark was a dud so can still get bad ones with them too. Gunitself is decent but barrel in mine is garbage
I know it happens. I’ve been very lucky. All my SPA guns won the barrel lottery’s, so far …

Did you return it to Stoeger ? Curious how good they are with replacments. I know they don’t fix em

I tried fixing it myself with no success. Should have just warrantied it but I'm sure I voided that. It's sitting waiting to be messed with but might take months before I deal with it. Or sell for parts minus barrel

I've written about it before but I was so convinced my P35-25 had a bad barrel I bought a replacement from Krale. I waited almost a year on that barrel and put on an after market plenum which boosted the velocity with king heavies and the gun shoots a lot better now. So it is possible to get a new barrel from SPA but it is not quick. And sometimes what looks like a bad barrel is the wrong pellet.
