RAW Rapid Microhunter vs HM1000x Mini

I was having the thought of selling off my classic leshiy and the extras I have for it for a multi-shot rifle. And when looking I am seeing that there are two different options for the little RAW rifles. Has anyone done and in depth review of both of them showing what the difference is between the two rifles? I see that there is a few hundred dollars, but is there anything else different between the models?

The Micro is like a Brocok Atomic in a sense, low power and very compact. The Mini is just a shorter barreled full size RAW with slightly different valviing as I understand it and is a 40ft/lb gun. For a better idea just call Martin, that's what I would do before spending your hard earned money! But...I would enjoy either one....😂👍

I think the Mini is new for 2025.

There are too many stories around regarding performance (accuracy) issues with the Micro Hunter. I may not have believed them except for the fact that I lived one myself. After probably a couple thousand rounds trying to address the issue of ~20% flyers when using the OEM mag (working with RAW directly via email), I finally got to the point where I could get repeated flyer-free groups - but only when using a single shot loader. At that point RAW offered to bring the gun back to their shop. That was last October. I finally got it back in Feb. They had done some polishing, rebuilt the reg (although velocity spreads had always been tight), and had replaced the magazine with a new OEM type which looks more like a 3D printed one (no longer black back with clear face). And - the returned gun is as bad or worse from an accuracy standpoint. A couple of things in its favor? Like said above the reg seems to perform very well, and the trigger is RAW sublime. It is light and handy - but that is all pretty meaningless if it is not accurate.

I offered it up to a friend, who had gone through the whole dance with his own Micro Hunter previously, and was finally able to get it shooting right by sending it to Martin instead of to RAW. I gave it to him as I really didn't want to see it any more.

I would imagine that the mini is maybe something which RAW understands better as it is more similar to their standard HM1000's. But the Micro is something which I just cannot recommend as it seems like maybe it was launched prematurely before all the bugs were worked out, and RAW doesn't even seem to understand the gun.

Fact is that after this debacle, I'm just going to stay away from anything RAW for a while.

YMMV

That sucks!!!

Typically these guns are great and they just plain shoot. Wonder if there is a mag issue or a barrel issue? 🤔

Uggg I’m itching for one of these micro hunters with some tweaks. If there was another barrel option I would be posting pics of mine but I can’t get on board with that stubby tube. This thing would such a perfect platform for some barrel options. a 12-14” barrel with a functional shroud would be the ticket . Still on the fence …

I am living it PumaCarl, all I want is my old AZ tuned/shrouded Rapid in .20 lol I’m hunting the new offerings and this one catches my eye with it’s Theoben DNA and modern touches. Will keep an eye on RAW and see if there are any options in the future, hopefully a few new configurations evolve for this micro platform.

Did you decide?

The HM 1000 action has been around for a long time. I had a full size rifle that I used for LV BR then FT. It was superbly accurate and reliable. I assume this new Micro uses the same action and regulator and can’t imagine why it isn’t perfect. I had thoughts of having Martin make up a longer barrel for mine. Maybe 12 inches. methinks 8.5 is too short. Now RAW pistols use the same action but with a widened single shot loading port and 15 inches barrels. Those seem to work well.

I have the 20ftlb pistol that I added a buttstock to, same exact action as the TM-1000 (even says it on action) single shot no mag. 15” LW barrel “Land and groove” not poly and no thimble. Love this little thing two options in one gun! And very accurate as all RAWS!
