Huben GK1 in .22 or .25?

Should I get the GK1 in .22 or .25? And which projectiles (head size) should I stock up on?

I suppose if you don't want any trouble, probably best to get the Huben peanut slugs.. since they are made for it, it should eat them fine..
oh and a second reason to get a 22 caliber is then when you get tired of it, you can pass it on..to me😂😊
by the way, thank you for all your hard work keeping this sight good.

Michael,
First it is a pistol, not a rifle. Pistols are typically used at short distances. The GK1 is NOT a plinker. It is powerful enough to damage unintended infrastructure. I own a V1 and a V3 in .25 and have hit pigeons at 100 meters. It is also a revolver and its munition retention in the magazine is a chamfer machined into the magazine's bores that catch the skirts of pellets. Slugs do not have a skirt and the only way they can be retained is friction. In other words, the gun is not designed to use slugs, nor do slugs at the intended short distances, add any value., only more cost If your intended use is for high power and exceptional accuracy is your requirement, then the .25 is superior to the .22 . The GK1 is also loud. It needs a good moderator. The higher the power selected, the louder it is. Only you know your intended purpose. Your call.

Despite claims that slugs are no good for the gk1, it is the only thing I shoot in mine. The only pellet that did any good was the GTO, but they are so light they don't even swing my steel targets when they hit. I shoot Varmint Knockers 28gr .223 slugs, and when scoped have gotten 1" groups at 50 yards. The slugs do get a dent from the pseudo rifling in the cylinder and stay snug. The thing I have learned from going over several K1s and GK1s with Kelly is....the magazines are not consistent from batch to batch, and different batches seem to like different ammo sizes. My 2018 magazine in my K1 only like .2193 slugs, and the v1 gk1 only likes .223...

Cheers!

Many thanks. Yes I intend to use it as a pistol with a reflex optic. Primarily steel shooting, maybe some quick acquisition training, and maybe some close range pest control.

Pistol only, close range steel and possibly some pests.

@Michael For a pistol only configuration, ringing steel, and use for smaller to medium-ish close-range pesting, consider the .22. I haven’t shot the .22 pistol, but I asked a few people a similar question before ordering mine. I got a .25 for situations where larger medium-sized animals may come in very close to where I wouldn’t be able to swing a tripod-mounted rifle around without spooking them.

These things eat pellets. A .22 is more affordable ammo wise and with variable power, it should fit the bill if you aren’t after larger animals (45lbs+).

Tengo munición del calibre .22 y del .25. Ambas son muy precisas, pero la del .25 es extremadamente precisa con balas de 6,42 mm y perdigones JTS de 25,39 granos.
Atentamente.

My vote is for .25. I don't bother with slugs and just shoot JSB 34gr pellets. Pushing them right around 40fpe. I can get a full mag from a 250 bar fill and the shots are accurate and hit with some serious authority for a pistol this size.

In general I believe the Huben K1/GK1 is a better .25 platform than .22. They wen't weird on the measurements and none of the .22 pellets really do amazing. In .25 pellets and slugs just do much better.

I just received the .25 caliber GK1. Holy smokes this thing is ridiculously cool! Initial feelings are that I'm super impressed with the build quality, the power to air consumption ratio, and the trigger (which seems to best all the other semi-auto airguns I've tried).

I went down to AirStryke Industries on Saturday and picked up a dovetail to picatinny rail. I'm gonna mount that and this Hawke Frontier Reflex dot.

I can't wait to put it on target!

MIchael a reflex sight is the only way to go, but going to the rail adaptor you chose sets the sight height too high above the barrel. This sets up the requirement to hold over the target at close range. I tried several different reflex sights and mounts and I now use a reflex sight that has a 2mm dot and 12 different intensity settings. I found this best for all light conditions. I also use an adaptor that converts the 11mm rail to a 22 mm rail without raising the sight height. They use two wedges and are very inexpensive. I now shoot my GK1's more than any other airgun and I am considering another one in 177 for low power pesting. You will be incredibly impressed with their accuracy and trigger. I feel they are every bit as accurate as a 10 meter Olympic pistol with a lot more power.
