Giving Away Used Gear

I have been shooting Airguns for a little under 5 years and have amassed everything from crosman 2240 magnum spring sets to every shape of paintball regulator and size of scope mount. This is not a brag, more an admission of a tinkerer that doesn’t spend money on alcohol any moer but effectively pours it down the drain all the same.

Anywho, Does it come off insulting to give away old gear?

I don’t find the hassle of resale outweighs the *possible* need of something from my horde but if I see someone that could use it more than me, I’ll gladly rid myself of it before asking for monetary compensation.

Love the spirit of your thread, as I have been thinking the same. As an old dude I have accumulated a lot of stuff I forgot I accumulated! Am going to simply give most of it away as that is what would happen if I passed and left it untended….
i’m sure you got at least another 20 years of shooting. until then put me on that list.. i promise i will take care of your babies

Noble gesture, think Member Classifieds is best place to manage this. Want To Sell (WTS) listing with shipping as sole charge would be a way to handle "donated" items. Occasionally, I'll come across a member in need of something I no longer use, or have extras, and handle via PMs. WM

Received a giveaway pcp air pistol specified to go to the at home kids per terms ... even the not at home kids took to it as their favorite to shoot. So it was a success getting more interest in air gunning. I personally have never cared for the pistol format other than SD purposes. Just a wonderful experience from the AN forum. I do return the favor now and then as I can. I imagine its maybe a bit contagious and that is a good thing.

I hear ya @IHatePaper. I’ve been in that same boat with a number of hobbies (addictions as my wife calls them). Obviously posting in AGN classified is an option but shipping is so costly anymore I would hope the recipient of the item pays shipping cost at least.
But even more of a PITA is a dozen PM’s for each item/s. I would say the easiest way might be to check in your area to see if there’s a FT group you could take it to or one of their participant could come pick up the items for the group.

I've always viewed selling used stuff to be a nightmare, the "what if" it breaks and or the little money someone wants to pay etc. I always gift my no longer needed stuff away. What goes around comes around has served me for years. To see the smile on someones face is worth it all to me.
My dad passed over a decade ago and the gear he had was crazy. I called a few liquidator guys that take care of such things and they were willing to pay less than peanuts for entire collections of high end gear. No payday for any liquidator,

Good on you sir to offer it up!

I always look for cheap airguns for sale. I stumbled across an R7, it was listed as a BB gun. It was in terrible shape and just what I was looking for. I love to tinker with stuff and repurpose everything. I rebuilt the whole gun, new spring, refinished the stock and bluing. Looked good and shot well. Went to the range with it, there was a guy there with his sons. They were shooting a 760 pumper. Loaned them the gun to shoot while there, they loved it. Talking to the kids I find out there both boy scouts practicing for an upcoming den competition.
Needless to say they have another gun to shoot.
I had less than 25 bucks into it, and for that little investment I am happy to give it to someone deserving. That wasn't the first or last time. 🙂

I don't think I would be so quick to get rid of it all. One day you will retire, if you haven't already, and you'll have more time on your hands than you know what to do with. Tinkering on airguns is one of the things that keep me out of the recliner. I love busting open the spares bin and seeing what I can make out of the contents.
