Which is why I love going after rats… Am seriously unabashed about killing them. Other pests? May or may not get a pass from me depending on where they are and what they are doing…Pesting is .... unabashed Killing.

Had to look up HOSPI build bird nests and constructed a small blue bird trail on my property and surrounding area. I read in one of the bird journals that using pellet rifles to control HOSPs was inefficient and cruel. The author claimed it impossible to reduce the HOSPs and it was better to use sparrow proofing and to catch the sparrows (and drown them!) and blah, blah, blah, which I tried many of the suggestions (not the drowning) with no good result. I can assure all, it is indeed possible to suppress the resident HOSP population by means of an air rifle. I rarely see one these days due now for several years of constant pressure on them. One sticks it's little HOSP head up and it does not have a head for long. And I am pretty sure there is no suffering when a JSB 34 grain zips through at 900 fps. All there is left is a cloud of feathers and sometimes a most satisfying pop. And I have also noted a definite increase in the blue birds local to me.
I have been the assigned pest control person in our 8 household area. We have an overpopulation of squirrels which have been getting into everyone's attics and causing damage. My neighbor says they sit on his fence and throw things at them while they are sitting by the pool. They are chewing on the corners of my house. The rabbits are also getting overpopulated and eating the grass to the bare dirt. We have bobcats but the rabbits are so overpopulated that the bobcats can't keep up. Anything you plant is eaten overnight by the rabbits.Any critter that tries to get in our house or garage gets shot. That's how I define "pest". A squirrel in a tree 50 yds away is no threat. That's just me.

Yes! Dished out my first "dirt nap" of the year the other day to a ground squirrel digging under my burn pile. Saw another on the neighbors property that looked like a small cat! May need to use the Leshiy 9mm on that critter! And they KEY syllable is BASH! Can't wait for Ground Squirrel schwacking season!
