Let it be said that Mr. Amwolf has Champaign taste.
The Vulcan and Vulcan II manufactured by Airgun Technology in the Czech Republic are in my opinion the best hunting guns AGT ever produced. This series of Vulcans came in a standard bullpup length of between 26.5” - 30”, available in 177, 22, 25 all with CZ barrels.
There were 4 generations of the original Vulcan before the Vulcan II came out; the 4th gen being the “creme de la creme” of the original Vulcans due to the following upgrades/changes.
4th gens received a new stock design complete with palm swell, an adustable butt pad in both vertical and side to side plane’s, available in both synthetic and wood with an integrated/ inlayed Anchuts rail in the fore stock for accessories. I believe the barrel length was 490 mm’s again manufactured by CZ and the shroud came threaded for a moderator. The rear, visible, portion of the receiver block now possessed a cocking indicator which was a very nice feature and sadly missed. In addition to all of these changes an optional biathlon cocking lever in lieu of the traditional bolt style cocking lever was offered for an additional $200.00.
Vulcan II’s changes included a redesigned receiver block - going from a one piece to a two piece design affording the end user with a better product as it was more robust. The barrels was length was increased by 10mm’s bringing it up 500mm’s. It sported a larger diameter shroud now as well as a free floated air tube/reservoir. The stock of the fourth gen carried over to the Vulcan II. Lastly, the Vulcan II now came with a biathlon stye cocking lever from the factory and the cocking bolt of the previous iterations was no more.
None of the original Vulcans or Vulcan II’s ever came with a depinger!
Is the Vulcan that Mr. Amwolf found online worth the $895.00 price tag? Hummm - give a minute to think - Yes! That didn’t take long. What can you buy today that has the many attributes & reliability of the Vulcan for that price?
A used Taipan Veteran Standard? It doesn’t have the forward cocking!!
A used EdGun R5M or Lelya? They don’t even come close to the refinement of the Vulcan or Vulcan II. Ed’s trigger is absolutely horrible and there is not a darn thing you can do to fix it. The ambidextrous cocking on Ed’s R5m and accompanying Lelya are not fluent in throw or flow and are flat out clunky and noisey. This is not to say they are not good good guns or good shooting guns - they are indeed! Just different.
OH Wait, wait - you forgot about a used FX!! Not on your best day! What attributes does it possess for a hunting gun? What reliability? What robustness?
Hummm - what’s left?
I have said it before and I will say it again “ Eastern European guns ROCK“. They are reliable, robust and simply perform year after year like No others.
Final Answer - YES!
