Compressor Purchase Help

My compressor history is more like a Greek tragedy ! Killed a couple 200 $ 110/12 volt units before going with the Yong Heng . It broke its crankcase in less than a year . Wanted to try a twin cylinder model soo Tuxing TXEDO12 .Nice for about 3 weeks . Sent it back with the idea that it was just a fluke compressor . Got a TXEDO11 . Plug it in and nothing . I top off my 30 min and 45 min SUBAs twice a week . WHAT compressors have you guys had long term luck with . I go above and beyond taking care of my compressors but still need one with longevity potential . Thanks for any help and I am sure this horse has been beaten lots .I want new input because things change OK !

I use a big 4 cylinder tuxing and I should've spent that money early on. I burned up 3 Yong hengs and a cx4 before I bought the big 1L /min tuxing. It is fast and doesn't struggle to fill anything but my oddball enormous aircraft cylinder. It fills my great white scba and 88cf scba quite nicely. I also have a tuoauto 200 dollar shoebox clone for mobile fills and backup because my tuxing has a huge power draw on startup. (don't buy my compressor in 120v)

After I got the big compressor I started collecting cylinders and now I don't need a portable compressor at all. I can supply air to 3 or 4 guys all day at high power with all the bottles.

My Yong Heng will be 4 years old in a few days and works great. But I only refill my 45 minute bottle about once a month. I also have used Nuvair oil in it from day one. You are filling bottles a lot more often, perhaps that explains why you had such negative experience.

I recently got a GX CS2 because I wanted something portable. I was quite surprised by how much quieter it is. Very compact too and I can run it off my 18V tool batteries (with a step down converter) or 120V or a vehicle. Too small for your needs but the GX CS5, especially the dual cylinder one, would not seem to be. The CS4 is rated to refill a 45 minute bottle but from what I read it takes it an hour or more. I think at least the single cylinder CS5 might be a better idea with your high volume (at least by my standards) usage.

You nailed it, regular use for filling large pressure vessels kills them. Heat and water also hurts them. If you are going to fill anything bigger than a buddy bottle I highly recommend doing it 1000 psi at a time with cool downs. My cx4 would still run had I not tried to refill a 45 minute small scba 1 or 2 times a week. The Yong hengs failed exclusively from poor quality and quality control of pistons rods and cases so I gave up on them. The little shoebox clones are pretty good these days, id buy two 200 dollar Amazon compressors over a cs4 if I had to today. The cs4 was pretty good while it lasted tho.

My air demand is very high and my situation is unusual. If i bought something and I think it stinks or has flaws, I will share and not justify my purchases.

I have been looking at the GX E5K2 and the Omega Air Charger 4500psi Compressor, but I still have not decided which one yet. I will be filling 75 and 100 cu-ft air tanks that we use. I already own the CS1-I portable pump, and that has been working great for topping up the air guns!!

I have both the Gx cs4i and Tuxing ed042. Both are as good as I’ll ever need .
The Gx is nice and portable while the Tuxing is 70 lbs. and I mounted it to a dolly.
The Gx is slow and cool. The Tux is very fast and I have upgraded the on board cooling
to where I don’t anticipate a heat problem. Comparatively the Tuxing can be very cheap.
The model I have just went down to the price I payed.IMG_1903.png

Same thing happened to my YH.

Cracked crank case...

If you want to keep it under a half K, the GX-CS4 will meet your needs
