HI, can i shoot FX hybrid slugs with the DRS 500mm .22 with Superior STX barrel liner?
I don't know what the Drs valve can achieve for power but I can tell you my buddies maverick with 500mm can push 23 grain javelin slugs at 980 fps with reasonable efficiency and noise limits. Hybrids aren't the fastest or most accurate from either of our guns but they do have a very unique terminal performance. Pellet fx liners shoot all but upper mid-heavier slugs quite nicely.HI, can i shoot FX hybrid slugs with the DRS 500mm .22 with Superior STX barrel liner?
I've been wrapping my head around hybrids and why they're slow. My best estimation is theyre probably pure lead to be soft for terminal results and manufacture , and have a massive bearing surface. Would you agree on either?Yes, but slow.
I’ve never had a problem with them being slow compared to another slug by a margin that caused concern. But in my DRS, they shot pretty good at 805fps. When I turned the reg up to around 140b, I got 865fps and a horrible shooting gun. Because the gun became a blast cannon from pushing it I started playing with different mods to see if I could clean things up and tighten groups. Then I came to my senses and remembered it was a good pellet gun. So I adjusted back to its Hades setting and eventually sold it.I've been wrapping my head around hybrids and why they're slow. Think that the hybrid is primarly designed to shoot through choked bores of medium power airguns and they are optimized for that.I've been wrapping my head around hybrids and why they're slow. That's my thinking too, as well as the circumferential distribution of the weight. It's a genius design to get slugs into pellet guns. They're never the top performer on my tuning tests but they do consistently perform decent enough. In 22 I can't speak highly enough of the light javelins in 217 for fx liners.Think that the hybrid is primarly designed to shoot through choked bores of medium power airguns and they are optimized for that.
The soft lead and internal structure would compress and pass through the choke with less distortion/difficulty than a typical, solid slug.
The market for people with low to medium power airguns that want to try slugs must be pretty big, makes cents ($$$ ?) to go after it.
Just guessing here.
Cheers!
