What pistol did you shoot today

Built it for longevity with a solid pump cup piston with felt wiper and brass valve.
Does 490 as is. If I push the pellet forward in to mimic a long bolt probe it does this at 10 pumps. 14 inch barrel cut down to 12 and recrowned

. I can get 1 ragged 5 shot group two handed at 10 yards.
I can pump for more fps but that's the role of other builds.
Long bolt probe going in tonight.

Today i shot an Industry Brand springer .177 pistol break barrel , Made in Shanghai China . Got it at a show $0 "just take it away" . not very powerful and the most horrible trigger i have every tried . first "stage" is gritty 2nd stage is resistance and finally 3 stage is a very hard to pull crisp let off . The website lists the pull at 12 -25 . surprisingly smooth shot cycle once you get the trigger to release. https://www.airrifle-china.com/product/34.html

Any target cards with some dime-size groups to show us? 😜

New purchase…Gecado 10.(Diana). This thing puts a smile on my face just looking at it. After shooting it, I have to give myself an hour to get rid of the $#it eating grin…been wanting one for years. John View attachment 552569
I know exactly what you mean , i have a Diana 6 and want a 10

Was in the same boat for years. Marflow777 directed me to a beautiful Diana 10 a couple of weeks ago, but I thought about it tooo long. When I saw this one, I bought it immediately. I paid dearly, but it’s exactly what I wanted. John
PS wouldn’t ever get rid of my Beeman 850 / Diana 6M.

Whenever I'm out hiking/camping I like to carry some minimal airgun to discourage varmits (typically snakes). So far, that has been a modified M712. Good power, reliable, and select fire, it's been very effective. In fact it's actually been overkill.
I normally shoot pellet guns, but find that I prefer certain BB guns for this application.
This time I figured I'd give the Umarex Colt Defender a try. Here's what I've discovered so far ...

Likes:
It's small, simple, all metal, spits out steel BBs at ~350fps, over 100 shots/cylinder, and inexpensive.
Dislikes:
No removable mag (slow reloading), double action only, ridiculously heavy trigger, less accurate than the M712 (but expected from a short barrel).
Mods:
I replaced the spring (by removing the barrel front cover) with a lighter one from the hardware store.
This significantly reduced the trigger pull to a much more acceptable level. I imagine this will lessen internal stresses & wear as well.

Out of the box, the trigger was the worst I've ever felt. Absolutely terrible.
But with the lighter spring it's totally different. Much better. I'm happy with it now.
Amazing what such a simple mod can make.

It's not blowback and none of the controls are functional, just molded in, so it's very basic.
For me, that means less to break out in the woods :)
Let's see how it goes.

After putting this little Colt through it's paces and running a bunch of ammo through it, I have to say I'm pleased.
Getting over 80 shots per cylinder, 350fps with steel BBs, and 500fps with the AGS plastics. Not too shabby.
At 10 yards the plastic BBs group better than the steel, perhaps because they're flying so much faster.
There is no removable mag, BBs are fed directly into the frame after you slide the grip rearwards. Wasn't sure if I liked this at first, but it turns out to be quick & easy to reload (especially with a speed loader) and I'm not hassling with leaky mags like some of my other stuff.

This little widget hasn't jammed or misfired yet with any ammo I've fed it. It's been extremely reliable and very economical with the CO2.
Gotta say, for 60 bucks I can't complain!
