Hill EVO-310 Air Compressor

I studied up on this Hill compressor, as I was considering it.

The EVO-310 is supposed to be the latest version - it has some updates over its predecessor - the EC-3000.

The Hill pumps are made in England. They seem to have a good support team - but they are “across the pond”.

The EC-3000 has originally intended just to fill rifles.

The EVO-310 has updates/upgrades that supposedly allow filling of smaller tanks.

I watched a YouTube review of a guy using the EVO-310 to fill a 6.8l. The pump seemed to struggle a bit with a tank that size. It took a long time - although the total time included numerous shut downs - the Hill seems super smart and shuts itself off for “cooling cycles” when filling the 6.8l tank. When the temp drops it starts itself up automatically until eventually the desired fill pressure is reached. You use a touch screen interface to set your desired fill pressure.

When I find the video link I’ll post it here.

Found it:

He calls it the EC-3000 EVO… he’s kinda combining both versions into one, lol.

I have a Hill EC-3000, I've had it about 3 years. I got it before Air Venturi started putting their name in them, but it's essentially the same compressor. Unless there has been some major changes, they are not intended to fill large tanks. I use mine just to fill my guns and it does a good job at that, but will shut down and cycle if I fill my 580cc tank on my SK-19 from empty.

If you want something that's made to fill larger tanks, I suggest you check out the GX Pump line, specifically the CS4 and 5K1.

Both will fill a 6.8L tank is one session and not break a sweat!

I'm looking for a compressor mainly filling my 6.8L tank from 150 bar to 300 bar. I'm want something other than a Yong Heng (which I have) and this one is available here. It's labeled as the Air Venturi EC-3000 Evo Air Compressor. Anyone have first hand experience with this one?
i have had a Hill evo-310 for about 4 months, i do fill my 9.0L tank, but i do it in incurments, to let it cool beyond the auto temp shutoff. you can pause a fill, i have noticed that it uses silicon oil like nobodies bees wax. the oil does make it past the catch bowl as i had a leaky elbow fitting that was bubbling oil. i use an inline filter and it seems to do the job, i have a bunch of replacement elements but the 1 in use seems dry as a bone. (edit: Just inspected the filter element and I do see signs of the silicone oil entering into it, the desiccant and 1st cotton pad have oil but the middle cotton and charcoal seem dry. I just changed the element and will keep a closer eye on it).

There are a few forum members who have had bad experiences & I'm still on low hours so fingers crossed that I'm still praisining it in the future.

I don't recall if there was resolution to the members issues but I think that customer support will be forthcoming if needed. I can't say the same for my cheap units and that's why the thing is more costly.

...that & it's infinately more refined & almost silent. It'd be perfect for apt dwellers

It auto stops to cool down & if you keep it in a low ambient spot it does even better. I like the reliabilty of the auto stop for direct fills & wouldn't trust the cheap HPC versions for that job.

According to hill it should be fine for up to 310 BAR but I would would get a 2nd beater to fill anything bigger than a few L if you need to fill on the regular. Even the most reliable stuff needs backup, so it's a good investment.

My $0.02

I am planning to use it to top off my air tanks, I have a Omega 75 cu/ft 4500psi Tank and my buddy has the 100cu/ft tank.

I really don't see it... For the price of the Hill we can get 3 YH's.
And as a general consensus, no matter how much you spend on a compressor to stay on a safe side you would keep one spare in a crate anyway?
My YH is a real workhorse, about 68 hrs since 2019. Yes, I am replacing a full piston assembly ones a year in average, but that is $55 tmd and an hour of elbow-greasing.
I am refilling three 14L scba over an average summer month from 150 to 300 bars.

I see it.
My Hill has lived in the house 3.5 years. It's quiet, almost domesticated. It tops up my 3 small tanks no problem..
It allows me to shoot all year, inside and out.

The Yong heng lives in the garage, it's something that does a task, nothing more.
Unrefined, noisy and agricultural. Hence it lives out of the house. Ok for fine weather use.

Hill wins for year round shooting.

I agree with you for noise and odour. I moved my YH to garage in 2022... and that btw gave me an extra convenience running the cooling continuously from a garden hose.
I am just talking about what I am getting for my money, is the cost difference justified ;)

Hill, 3.5 years running and one service plus a o ring. Year round use. No problem indoors.

Yong heng, 2 rebuilds, a spare one in the crate, fair weather / part time use only, vibration that most women only dreamt about.

Hill, for me was money well spent, it's already paid for itself.
Warm inside all winter, shooting, not waiting for parts from china, missus and the neighbours can chat whilst hill is running.

A easy, peaceful life for me is worth the extra few bucks.
