I want to put a longer whip with a quick connect on my hand pump. The male threads of the new whip are m10 x 1. I'm not sure what the threads are on the connector for the incumbent short whip with fixed adapter for my air bottle. The threads are straight, not tapered, like they should be BSP and as best as I can tell are 3/8 x 28. I tried screwing the new whip into the pump, but within a turn or less the threads bind. The thread pitch is identical, or almost so between the two hose ends, but the incumbent hose is is about .375" diameter and the M10 is .383" (actually 9.8mm) so that extra .010" is what's preventing the new whip from screwing in.
Is the incumbent whip a 1/8" BSP end? What adapter do I need? I considered just running an M10 x 1 tap into the existing pump fitting, but thought it better to ask questions first since that would be a permanent change. Photos below:
This is the end of the incumbent short whip. Although it has a tapered section like a JIC fitting, there is no male tapered part in the brass pump fitting into which is screws. The air is sealed by the washer.
This is the fitting on the pump into which it screws. It has another female type JIC section in it, not a mating male tapered area.
Here's a comparison of the new longer whip's end on top and the incumbent short whip's end on the bottom.
This is the pump I'm trying to upgrade. It came with my AirForce Talon as part of the package in 2006. There are no branding identification marks on the pump that I can find.
