Huben GK1 in .22 or .25?

Should I get the GK1 in .22 or .25? And which projectiles (head size) should I stock up on?

I mounted one with the dovetail adapter, and one with the picatinny adapter. It looks like the picatinny adapter is only 0.13” taller. Do you really think it’ll make the holdover that much worse?

The difference will be negligible, if any. I do prefer the look of the sights with a removable base though. I tried a few adapters and while they all worked ok this one looks the cleanest and is the sturdiest. It’s designed to perfectly fit into where the rear sight mounts.

It is a personal thing. Target acquisition must be fast and instinctive when pesting. .13 inches makes a big difference to me. The beauty of a reflex sight is the ability to still see the target when using hold over, but the correct amount changes rapidly with distance the greater the height differential between glass center and barrel center and that makes guessing a lot more difficult. I was so concerned with this I mounted a laser on my PP700SA that was .5" left of barrel center and adjusted dead parallel to the barrel. This worked perfectly, but in practice, I had trouble using it. That issue was mine alone. That solution technically was perfect. It allowed me to actually see the correct hold over requirement when both sights were working together.

I went down to AirStryke Industries on Saturday and picked up a dovetail to picatinny rail. I'm gonna mount that and this Hawke Frontier Reflex dot.

GK1 in .25 is the only airgun pistol I have used that you can actually point shoot at pistol distances.
Why not try just using it stock you may find you like it without any tacticool optics at all..

for your low mounted optics solution — how low did you get it?
What number would you punch into a ballistic calculator for "scope height"?

Wow, 29mm is really low! 👍🏼

I have a dot sight with a tube on it, with adjustable turrets (I am such a die-hard dialer....):
A Leupold Freedom RDS 1x34.
I got it down to 39mm scope height.
At my current power of 15FPE (in .22cal), and with a killzone of 1" —
I get a PBR of 6.5—35y.

With your 29mm scope height, that would give me a PBR of 4.4—33y (2y closer yet for those extra short shots — I just missed a pigeon a couple of days ago because of that...🤦🏻‍♂️).

First it is a pistol, not a rifle. Pistols are typically used at short distances. The GK1 is NOT a plinker. It is powerful enough to damage unintended infrastructure. I own a V1 and a V3 in .25 and have hit pigeons at 100 meters. It is also a revolver and its munition retention in the magazine is a chamfer machined into the magazine's bores that catch the skirts of pellets. Slugs do not have a skirt and the only way they can be retained is friction. In other words, the gun is not designed to use slugs, nor do slugs at the intended short distances, add any value., only more cost If your intended use is for high power and exceptional accuracy is your requirement, then the .25 is superior to the .22 . The GK1 is also loud. It needs a good moderator. The higher the power selected, the louder it is. Only you know your intended purpose. Your call.

Curious. At 100m and pigeons, are you hitting it pretty much dead on if your technique is fine or do you hit one every now and then? Wondering what type of groupings this is capable of at 100m. Remarkable for a pistol, regardless.
