Any rebated Boat Tail Slugs shooters out there?

What's a "rebated" slug? Money back after buying?

For cast bullets the rebate provides a clearer edge for exiting the barrel crown vs the sprue cut edge. For swaged it makes for more robust punch geometry with the shoulder of the rebate. A standard boat tail punch can have a knife edge on it which is not good for tool life. For overall performance I think you will find them equal.

There's some stabilization nuances too. Cast boolits and external ballistics is a whole hobby on its own.

Thank you for everybody that chimed in.
I'm taking a chance on these 76 grain slugsL:

I will let the membership know how they work out with my .30 cal Karma Red Panda

A rebated boat tail is claimed to improve the intermediate ballistics, thus reducing group sizes compared to a straight non rebated boat tail. The main problem with rebates is that they increase the effective boat tail angle, which is already excessive on many slug designs, making it difficult for the airflow to follow the boat tail and thus causing it to break away. When the slug yaws at an angle, the airflow may suddenly be able to follow the oversized boat tail angles, which causes sudden changes in stability and gives increased group sizes

The modern BBT slugs were modified by Bob to give the boat tail angles I recommended, so hopefully the airflow should not break away.

Great intel. I can't wait for my order of rebated slugs to arrive for testing.
