Air Arms TX200 splits breach seals

Hello and good morning.

A friend of mine has a TX200 that splits the top breach seal. He has replaced the compression tube thinking there may be a bur cutting the seal but it did not take care of the problem.

I will ask him for a picture, but it basically is cutting the seal around the top edge and then the seal flowers out around the barrel breach.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Two solutions. One, is to remove a bit of material from the transfer port side of the barrel. The other, and better solution is to shim the barrel nut out ti meet the compression tube as the seals make contact with the transfer port. you'll also want to tighten up the cocking shoe slot by either peening it in, or gluing shims to keep the shoe from moving. Good Luck!

Is is possible that these breech seals are being damaged when they're being inserted? I know that when I've replaced those in my TX200, it's really hard to get both of them in and lying flat without damage. TXs are mostly simple to work on, but these breech seals are their weak point. Keep some on hand and keep them oil free. Ahhh, the joys of our hobby. Orv.

I use a small(maybe5 or 6mm) socket to press the orings in with even pressure. I may be wrong on the size, but the technique is sound.
