Its been extremely windy here for a week, always is this time of year. And I've always hated shooting in high wind so I simply don't do it. Especially with lightweight bullets, let alone a pellet that only weighs 18 gr. I have a Kestrel 5700, so yup I can dope wind just fine...I just don't like doing anything in high winds let alone shooting.

I hear you. But even in a breeze the different between 18gr and 25gr let alone heavier slugs is fairly notable at 50y. If it’s more than 5-6mph I usually just grab a .25 that’s tuned for 34gr or slugs and they do fine. Well… let’s say better than .22 and in particular 18gr.

That said, I have dedicated sluggers in .177 (my only .177 lol, let’s see whether I ever try pellets), .22 and .25 just so that I also have something that’ll do great further out and or in the wind. The only gun I have that is truly great at both is my P3. And maybe the m4, but that’s because it shoots 34gr AEA as if they were slugs

I may try slugs at some point, but for now I'm just really enjoying how the M4 is slinging the pellets. And I'm not saying I won't try a heavier pellet in the future, but for now the 18.13 gr pellets are doing just fine. Who knows, that may fall apart at 40-50+ yards later on and I may have to tune a bit or try a different pellet weight. I've really not shot seriously past 35 yards other than testing out the data I've entered into my Kestrel 5700 against the solutions it co.es up with at known ranges. So far I'm thinking I'm going to have to play with my BC number because there's about a 3 MOA difference between what the Kestrel says to dial in at 65 yards, and what I actually have to dial in. The Kestrel is telling me to dial in 3 MOA higher than I actually need to be...if I remember right.
