I had to send my Athlon Argos 10-40 target scope back to Athlon today. I bought it from Camera Land in November of 2024 and I was pretty happy with it but I had noticed the occasional need for a scope adjustment for no apparent reason. Today it just would not hold zero for more than a shot or two. I attached the target I was shooting. After it was apparent I had an issue, I started adjusting the scope on each target until I shot a 10. Took a few shots. I was checking various screws on the gun as I was doing this trying to find the issue. Finally before shooting the last two rows I switched to a much older Athlon Talos 6-24. The right hand target in the 10 block was used to establish zero. Then I shot the left target in the 10 block, both 9 block targets, the 11 block targets and then both 12 block targets. Until the last target all my shots with the zero'd Talos were 10s. The first shot on the right hand 12 target was a 9 so I shot again and got a 10. After I got it zero'd I did not touch the adjustments of the Talos, I didn't need to. So I'm pretty sure the problem in blocks 1-8 were not me or the gun.
To their credit, you do not need to ask Athlon for return authorization. They have a form on-line you fill out, print, and include with the scope. I sent them this target to help explain. I used Pirate Ship to ship it via UPS to the address on the return form. Hopefully I will get something from Athlon next week explaining what they are doing to remedy this situation. The only other scope I've returned was a Bug Buster. I had to get authorization which I did and I sent it to UTG as they requested and then I never heard from them again (despite requests). I'm hoping for much better from Athlon.
I'll let you know how it comes out.
