PCP Pistol Recommendations?

After shooting our newly purchased Maximus air rifle, I want to move forward and purchase a PCP hand gun/pistol

I really can't spend a lot of money on this right now, and I'm wondering if you guys can give me some lower-end recommendations? Here's what I'm hoping for:

Is $200 unrealistic?

I really like pcp power now that we've started using the rifle.

I'm planning on using it only for target practice.

Thanks!

...I would just spend $1000 and get an AP16...but that's just me...

...FWIW I drive a '96 Volvo worth maybe twice that much...it is not like I am wealthy...

...I do have an AP16...that is why I recommend it...it is not perfect but there is nothing quite like it IMHO...

...I do feel it is over priced but now that the $$$ has been spent am not regretting the AP16...

...I have come to expect it to be unreasonably accurate and between that and the CZ 200's I have been spoiled in that regard...

...Odoyle might have a better Idea...

PP700 is a decent pistol that is very adjustable via transfer port, hammer spring tension, and reg pressure. Out of all the pcp pistols I own, it feels the most like a “real” pistol being that it’s one of the most compact and lightweight.

The PP750 also is a good pistol that is multi shot. If you’re lucky you might win the barrel lottery and get a accurate barrel. It’s the luck of the draw with these cheaper pistols. Fortunately I’m batting 2/2 with pistols made by that company.

For $40 you can get yourself, arguably, the best pcp pistol for the money; The Crosman 1701p. I don’t own one because I hate a rear cocking bolt on a pistol but if that doesn’t bother you it’s an incredibly accurate pistol that isn’t too heavy or long like a p-rod. Use the AGNATION discount code to get it for $281. The pp700 and pp750 sell for around $230-240.

Another route you can take is to buy a $60 crosman 2240 and buy a $56 Cothran SS tube and turn that sucker into a pcp pistol. Unfortunately the maker, Don Cothran, is temporarily shut down but should be back within a few weeks. https://cothranmachine.com/

It has a small reservoir but charges to 2900psi. Twenty-five hundred with a pump is not to bad for me usually, but I am sixty-eight and my arms are screwed up. Others say 3000psi isn't bad. But I think it depends on your pump as well as your health.

You don't have to pump all the way to 2900. Unregulated guns like to start at a specific pressure to give you the most shot to shot consistency and accuracy as well. That pressure is very seldom the max fill pressure it's usually less.

I forgot about the Diana bandit, I own that one too. It’s my least favorite out of the ones I mentioned.

Here’s a pic for size reference so you can get an idea of what you’re getting into. (From top to bottom: Diana Bandit, PP750, PP700, 2240 with Cothran SS tube)

According to Krale's website, the PP700's barrel is 10mm longer than the PP750. Are your barrels the stock barrels?

The 700 is a simple design. More compact, lighter (I would think), and more efficient (longer barrel)

I also like the type of hammer on the 700 for target shooting.

The 700 is an older platform, and has had time to be tweaked, adjusted, and dialed in by the manufacturer. It is usually better to buy a later generation of something that a first run. Similar to being a beta tester if you ask me....

The 750 is a sidelever, has a magazine where the 700 does not, also is much quieter than the 700 out of the box. And has the extendable butt pad.

I would pick the 700 because I already have several pcp pistols/carbines. And I like it's design/simplicity.

I would also add the Crosman 1701P Silhouette pistol to the list, but it's MSRP is $350 or so. I did just see one sell in the classifieds for $260 or so

So if you had to pick one over the other, which would it be and why? 700 vs 750. The specs read very similar.

PP700 because I like the way it handles and it is more robust than the PP750 which has had some issues when trying to up the power. Single shot doesn’t bother me, as I’m shooting my multi shot pp750 with a single shot loader. I actually prefer single shot for supreme accuracy. Long_gun_Dallas hit the nail on the head regarding the pp700

I’ll give another vote for the PP 700.I was going to buy the PP 750 but after reading reviews I heard people were having problems with the bolt probe cocking to the side.Although the PP 700 is a single shot, it will be much easier to load than your Maximus. It has a lot of adjustability and is accurate. And the trigger can be adjusted to very light. At least mine is.
