Getting tarnish off the shiny bits. Some dull spots on the lever cap will remain where the original nickel plating has worn through.
Looks like I need to look into being robbed by my local woodcraft store. After a bunch of research the plane is a type 4 produced from 53-65, and the knob and tote are made from Goncalo wood(tigerwood). Gonna see if they have a piece i can make both out of so the have nice matching color and grain. The front knob is not in bad shape but upon removal has some cracks in the base.

I also buy and restore old handplanes. Found this Miller's Falls #9 at a tag sale for $6 today. Already started tearing into it. The worst part is the rear handle (tote) that broke at some point and was repaired in ways that are functional only.
