A bigger objective helps by reducing depth of field so a 56mm or 60mm will help. Second, a good focus wheel like a well designed comma wheel will help separate the 40-55 yard markers. I found these 2 variables helped the most with budget optics (less than $1000).

The key is to be consistent as to the starting point (muzzle, scope objective etc). This way your dope card remains consistent and repeatable. This is important in FT where a half yard ranging error can result in a miss at a close target with a tiny KZ.

My DL is in a chassis. Here is my son shooting it during a match.

Thank you all for the inputs. I removed the power wheel from my DL as the standard adjuster with jam nut provides finer tuning, shot count is good with tube and current tune so no benefit from a bottle. So maybe another DL in say a GRS stock may be the 2nd HFT pcp for me.

I shoot a DL in HFT with good results and wondering the differences between DL and the Crown in terms of tuning ability and performance. Off course referencing to .177 in =<20 FPE category. Checking before ordering a backup rifle. Thanks.
