Ballistic solvers, for those that use them.

I'm late to this show, very cool project.... programming skills! Re: multiple wind zones, I'd say maybe yes. Why?.... consider if you have 4 mph at the muzzle for 1/3 of the way and then 0 for the rest.... it would be much different than having zero for the fist 2/3 and then 4mph for the...

[WTB] Small low power scope AO

Looking for a 1.5x, 2 or 3x fixed or variable mag scope for a rapid fire pcp. Maybe a scope or a Red dot with mag? Can get them for about $100 on Pyramyd air but looking for used cheaper. Let me know if you have something you'd like to sell. Regards, John

Why do you still shoot springers?

As noted by a few... Simplicity, challenge, accessibility, utility. I like knowing it's ready to go at any moment, which is often but not always the case with my PCP's. It's also good practice... as shooting a springer translates in many ways and could improve overall skill.

[WTB] Daisy Avanti 853 or 953 5-shot in good working order

Hi, as noted above. If you have a good copy of one of these 5-shot models I'd be interested. The LW barrel is a plus but either one will do. Thanks, John

So…who thinks they have the most accurate springer?

My best springer (.177 LGU) will regularly shoot 1/2 inch or smaller groups at 35 to 40 yards if I settle down and the wind is predictable. Many if not most are sub MOA. I recall reading years ago, that an airgun that can shoot MOA at 50 yds (PCP) or 1.5 MOA at 50 yards (Spring) is an...

    Ways to clean your barrel.

Hi Ktro, I load a lead pellet first, and push it in deep enough to allow for the felt pellet to follow. I shoot a "wet" one first and sometimes I'll do it again with a dry pellet (and lead pellet) right after. Seems to do the job fairly well. Regards, John

    Ways to clean your barrel.

I use the cleaning pellet a ton. I almost never do a "full" clean of my barrel. To start out, I'd suggest a more thorough cleaning though, so patchwork might be good. Then afterwards, I just hit a cleaning pellet with ballistol and fire it (and a lead pellet) once or twice when it appears...

    Recrowning

Hard to tell from pix, but it looks considerably off! Non concentric and that is no good at all. If you do the recrown, I'd expect a noticeable improvement. I'd get a #10 brass screw and some lapping compound, watch the videos posted above and have at it. I've done 3 or 4 and it has...

    .22 Springer & MOA at 25 yards

Getting an occasional 7 shot group at MOA at 25 yards is doable for most with a good shooting springer, but my guess is that it is more an exception vs the rule. If trying it 5 times of more I'd guess the average group size would be closer to .35 or .40 for a very good shooting spring gun and...

    Self sealing targets

I get various ones, Do-all and others... they all are too thick to allow .177 and some .22's to pass through. I never shoot them in that (original) form. So I cut them in half, the long way. It's a bit tricky, dremel, hack saw, jig saw.... all work sort of. Best yet is a cheap band saw...

I Took One to the Head Today

Scary those QD fittings. Glad you're OK. Does this not make a case for the much hated proprietary fill probes used by many manufacturers? Safety should not be placed second over convenience, yet most PCP shooters prefer the QD. I would think the probes are safer? I know there's the...

    A Tale of Two Sproingers

I know the thread is dead, but wanted to update. I tried a bunch more pellets and checked all the screws, tried different holds, bags, scopes, resting points.... etc. Finally I did what I thought might be needed all along, I pulled off the muzzle break and had a peek into the crown. What a...
