Ethical Hunting with a Big Bore

Good article. I think someone else was going down this path but I thought I'd chime in. For airguns throwing bullets at under 900 FPS time to target becomes a factor. Generally speaking, a deer can react to sound in about .18 of a second or less. So, when you pull the trigger sound is...

What is the LEAST hold sensitive, “FULL POWER” spring rifle?

Full power? Well, my .22 RWS 350 Mag develops about 23 FPE, loves Polymags and is not hold sensitive. A rifle that shoots as well offhand as it does on a rest. It is a bit heavy though. I also have a RWS 94 in .177 that shoots @ 13 FPE and using 10.5 grn pellets doesn't care how you hold it.

Slugs- seems to be a rabbit hole.

I try not to make shooting slugs complicated. I generally hunt with my airguns and all of my PCP's digest slugs. I purchase a sample pack from NSA in the caliber I need and then test each for hunting accuracy and downrange power. Whichever slug works best for my application wins. So far this...

Tuning I Need some help understanding multi-pumps and reservoirs

Ok... takeaways: 1. Make sure the Aspen is cocked if filling from empty. 2. I have a problem with valves and need to completely disassemble the pump and clean and inspect everything. I've never disassembled a pump completely so this will be new territory for me. Thank you for the advice...

Tuning I Need some help understanding multi-pumps and reservoirs

All, I have a problem with a multi-pump that I can't seem to fix. Perhaps some of my story and the issues I'm seeing have been experienced by one of you and you can lead me in the right direction. I have a .25 Seneca Aspen. After about 1000 shots the pump started getting really hard to pump...

Tuning Aspen .25 Pumper / PCP

Ok... a bit of an update. I was able to get the brass nut out using two shims and needle nose vice grips. I successfully replaced the existing seal with two -006 o-rings. I really thought it'd all be good at that point and put everything back together. Unfortunately no matter how much I...

35 cal polymags - are they used much?

I use a variety of slugs and pellets in my Bulldog but find polymags perform really well. That being said roundball are very accurate in my rifle out to 35 yards or so and are super cheap to shoot. They're also deadly on small game. For medium game like coyote, big raccoons, etc... I like the...

Tuning Aspen .25 Pumper / PCP

Raden1942, So, it was frozen to the point where I thought I'd break it if I pulled harder. However, I lifted the handle up far enough to reach the bleeder screw and was able to de-gas the gun which allowed the handle to then swing free. Still, a few attempted pumps and I can feel that I'll...

Tuning Aspen .25 Pumper / PCP

Well, it's both a pumper and a PCP rifle. After about 2000 shots it's frozen, meaning it won't won't pump anymore. Knowing this was a possibility I baby'd the crap outta this rifle. I pumped slowly, I made sure everything was well lubricated. Now I need to fix it... So... the question is...

    1322 Goodness

I have a 1322 I've owned for about 15+ years. I bought it tuned and and with custom grips. Today I was doing some pellet and power testing just to see how it's performing. I live at about 6000 ft. above sea level. I was shooting 14.3 grn. Crosman Premiers, 15.75 grn Predator Polymags and...

What have you done with your airgun today?

Choreographed and documented several pellet guns. I have enough rifles now to need to document what pellets each one likes and what my range setups are for each. I'll then create a cheat sheet and tape that to the butt of each rifle. Makes it much easier to choose the right rifle for the job...

Now it is Personal , Coyote attacked Titus when Colleen took him out side Today

They get bold in numbers. Glad your dog survived. Looks like that pack needs to learn to fear coming too close. We've had pets taken out of yards in our neighborhood. Thin them a bit and they won't come back for a good long time. Milehighguy

    What is Ballistic Coefficient?

It seems BC should be of extreme importance to airgun hunters in particular as a higher BC, with accurate ammo, can both stretch your range and offer better terminal effect as energy at range is generally higher. For me, I use the heaviest, highest BC pellet or slug available that can deliver...

NSA Slugs vs Pellets in Hatsan Blitz .30

Sqwirlfugger57, So, the burst mode (ha!... me tickling the trigger just right) is great for improving your hit rate and effectively delivers a lot of energy. However, I've only used it a couple times clearing carp from ponds on the property. It's very effective but you chew through lead...

NSA Slugs vs Pellets in Hatsan Blitz .30

Sqwirlfugger57, Not new but specific to anyone owning the Blitz. I don't shoot the Blitz with a scope. This is my "walking around" gun when I go out on 700 acres of property my buddy owns. All of my shooting is done between 15 & 40 yards or so and the Blitz does the job. On full auto with...

NSA Slugs vs Pellets in Hatsan Blitz .30

Hello, this is my first post. I wanted to share my findings testing pellets and slugs in my .30 Hatsan Blitz PCP rifle. I also want to briefly cover the difference in downrange energy produced by a heavier higher BC slug vs. pellet, which plays out at just about every caliber. I've tested...
