    I use .177 for target practice and shoot .22 for birds and squirrels. I don't have much land and I am not pesting anything larger than a squirrel, so I don't need anything more (.25, .30 etc.)

    Best pcp under $500

    Benjamin Marauder pistol. Great shooter, and easy to fill with a hand pump. Great economical entry into PCP airguns. It can be the only gun he needs to buy, if your buddy don't have gear acquisition syndrome.

    You are comparing apples to oranges (the P-rod is no slouch though). Compare the Gamo Urban rifle to the Benjamin Marauder (M-rod) rifle with Lothar Walther barrel. The Urban gets great reviews but the M-rod is the better rifle. It just may be the best rifle under $1,000.

    Considering Edgun Leshiy 2, what other guns should I look at?

    I am guessing nobody is shooting long distance with a Leshiy 2? If they are, how are the groupings? Usually bolt action is more accurate than a semi-auto rifle.

    Yeah, the P-rod is not regulated but that does not matter if you shoot between 1,500 - 2,600 PSI for 32 shots. In that range the FPS only deviates by 10 FPS or so.
